Melanie graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2000, and founded the practice in 2008 on her own. She is interested in medicine (especially feline medicine) and has just completed a Masters Degree in Conservation Medicine. She is focused on providing the best care possible for your pet and relishes getting to know your pets indiviually.

When she is not at work she is travelling in the campervan with her long suffering husband, or relaxing at home with a book and her cat. The building dates back to the 1800s at least, and was mentioned as a pub in the 1851 cenus. If you have any information on the building Melanie is always interested in finding out more.

Facilities Report

Dedicated operating suite, with separate Surgical theatre. The Ward area is divided into cat and dog sections, redcuing stress for those patients who need to stay in hospital with us. If you would like to have a look around do just ask - If we are not busy with operations or consults then we will be happy to show you around.

Contact/Directions Report

You can call to make enquires or appointments throughout the day, although if it is not urgent, please try to avoid calling between 11am and 2pm. We are often operating at the this time and may not be able to deal with you enquiry in full. If you have an emergency please call at any time. We aim to respond to all emails promptly but do bear in mind if we are busy the emails may not be checked for several hours.

We look after all companion animals, but do have a few rules and restrictions which we abide by. We do not specialise in the more exotic pets, such as reptiles and birds, or chickens, although are happy to see them. If you have one of these pets you may prefer to find a vet with more specialist expertise in this area.

Friendly staff and a welcoming environment made for a pleasant visit.
Our kitty cat was well looked after and was quite calm considering other strange animals being in the background which he could clearly hear.
If you are local and need a vet, why not give these guys a try.... we did!

My dog loves going to the vet. He is 11 years old now and has always gone to this vet. The vet makes it a fun experience for him and he gets excited about going in. I've never known any dog that loved going to the vet until I got my one.

The vets is easy to find and there is space to park next to the building. They have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, which helps to keep the animals calm. The vets and receptionist/nurse have always been kind with our pets and we feel safe trusting Halian with their care.
