Matlock Meadows is based on the real working family dairy Farm 'Masson Farm', which has been in the Dakin family since the 1930's. The quality, 'farm assured' milk from our own dairy herd is used to make our artisan Italian style gelato. The inspiration to make our own Italian style ice cream came following a trip to Italy and tasting some of the most amazing gelato that Italy has to offer.
Several years later we created our very own 'taste of Italy' here at Matlock Meadows Ice Cream Parlour & Coffee Shop. Our award-winning Italian style gelato is available to take away. We have cones and tubs so you can pick your favourite. It is hand-made here on the family farm using the quality farm assured creamy milk from our own dairy herd, which graze the limestone pastures overlooking the historic spa town of Matlock.

Met some family that travelled over seas, we had 3 children with us and 9 adults and the staff were amazing, really friendly, had a cool wooden train set for the kids to play with indoors, a teeny working mini digger for kids, and the calves and goats to pet, hand washing and toilet facilities and baby changing facilities as well. the food was great and they had a hoooge choice of icecream too , there was no pressure to leave which was great becuase we stayed for about 3 hours catching up, great little place.

Lovely little farm with so much potential. Nice little cafe to get kids food and sandwiches for parents which is attached to a shop with really nice stuff in. You can pay £1 to buy food for the animals which my son loved doing. The ice cream is really really nice and there's a little play area too. Will definitely return

We only came for the ice-cream, the animals were an added treat! We'd tasted your ice-cream at the Heights of Abraham so it drew us to you.
Ice-cream: with so many choices it was difficult so we had a double… scoop on Fri and went back the next day to sample different flavours!
Staff: lovely, had a laugh with two ladies and a man behind the counter, especially because we were recognised from our visit the day before!
Animals: so cute, lovely to see the children there feeding and interacting with them.
Accessibility: very easy to find, as long as you ignore the "road closed" signs!

First of all you can't really complain as the entry is free and the children get to see animals and be on the playground. The ice cream is excellent and reasonable price wise and you have space to eat food purchased on site. You can't take a picnic. However you can't help but think they could turn this into a goldmine and start to charge a small entrance fee. A bit like bluebells etc. But all the better for us to go and buy ice cream and see the animals.
