The Isle Of Sheppey in Kent offers a superb sailing environment just 40 miles east of London, boasting some of the best sailing waters in the UK. Sheerness on the island's north coast, offers direct access at all states of tide to an Olympic quality sailing area. IOS Sailing Club is one of the oldest sailing clubs in the UK, whose aim is to encourage, promote and facilitate amateur dinghy & catamaran sailing with membership open to all.
Facilities for yachts can be found in nearby and up & coming Queenborough Harbour, on the island's west shore. IOS is easily accessible from Kent, London and most of the South East via the M2 & M20 motorways and A249. Probably the most unique event in the sailing calendar, the annual IOS Round the Island Race, held since 1959, attracts entries from far and wide.

Services
IOS Sailing Community is a long-established independent website promoting the Isle Of Sheppey's superb sailing waters & facilities. It also provides one of the most popular free 'WeatherCam' services in the South East. Established in 1996, the site was created voluntarily to promote IOS Sailing Club, one of the first sailing clubs to have a web presence.
Congratulations to Tim Neal/Simon Farren (Formula 18) from Parkstone YC, overall winners of the 61st IOS Race and Jenna Gibson winner of the David Clay Windsurfing Challenge. Every competitor successfully completing the course receives a circumnavigation certificate signed by the Commodore. IOS Round the Island Race is a long established, long distance event designed to test sailing skills and endurance over a 40-mile course.
The Isle Of Sheppey in north Kent is a unique place and has clubs available for almost all types of sailing & watersports. You do not need to own a boat to join. Dinghy sailing is accessible to most people and costs a lot less to get into than you might think. It's also one of the few sports where all ages and both sexes can compete equally.

The premier club for dinghy racing on the Medway. One of the most competitive racing on the east coast. Great support for juniors on Saturday mornings and in the afternoon great for learning adults. Sunday's is the day for racing and we have 13 Blazes so we always get 4 or 5 out. 2000s get class racing too but we also have a keen fleet of Mustos but they are often away doing international competition. Pay a visit at the weekend and join in.
