Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital
To register your pet, or to book an appointment with a member of our veterinary team please call. Most people are familiar with the term arthritis - a medical condition affecting many of us each day. Our pets can also suffer with this potentially debilitating disease, often seen in our ageing animals, but some younger pets may also suffer for various reasons.

WHAT IS ARTHRITIS? Arthritis or osteoarthritis. 3 practices, 1 aim: to provide your pet with everything they need to live a longer, healthier and happier life. Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital was established back in the 1950's and, ever since, our dedicated and compassionate team has been is focused on providing your beloved pet the very best of care in a calm, friendly and professional environment.
Services
I qualified as a vet in 1994 and after 3 years in mixed practice, I joined Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital. In 1999 I joined Andrew Geldard in partnership, until his retirement in 2008. I now run the practice with the help of my extensive team. I am interested in pain management and offer acupuncture as an alternative or adjunctive to conventional pain management.
We may have 3 practices, but we have 1 aim: providing your pet with everything they need to live a longer, healthier and happier life. At Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital our exceptionally high standards can be seen consistently throughout our 3 practices. The biggest practice is based on Stanhope Road in Darlington and is an accredited hospital which can accommodate all types of major surgery.
We know you want your pet cared for by an exceptional team, but you also need your veterinary surgery to be modern and fully equipped and our state-of-the-art facilities enable us to provide your pet with the very best veterinary care available. We have invested in the latest equipment, enabling our vets to provide your pet with accurate diagnosis and the most up-to-date, effective treatment.
We are the only clinic in County Durham to have achieved "Gold Standard" Cat Friendly Clinic status - the highest accolade awarded by the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) - and we understand the very different needs of our feline friends and always wanted to do something more to make their vet visits as stress free as possible.
Pets provide us with unconditional love, friendship and comfort, but sadly they don't live as long as we do so, at some point, many pet owners will have to consider euthanasia. It's completely normal to have intense or conflicting emotions when it comes to such a sad decision but sometimes euthanasia - literally, a "gentle and easy death" - can be the kindest act that a pet owner can do for their much-loved animal.

Yet again this place amazes me my Chameleon Charles is not well, Bridie did everything she could to get me sorted to see a exotic vet as the exotic vet wasn't on duty on new years day. Devon took time out of her day off to come in to see Charles which to me was the most amazing thing. I'm sorry I cannot for the life of me remember the other ladies name but all 3 members of staff where spot on with their help reassurance and advice. Thank you all again.

A highly recommended, very high skilled veterinarian practice. Only one negative is that it's very hard to speak to the same person twice which is sometimes means everything has to be explained from scratch. But that's a very small thing!!!
Keyhole spaying is amazing and very little stress to a dog.
