Established in 1961, Westwards Nursery in Loughborough, is a high quality, well equipped private childcare and education setting, conveniently located on Burton Street, close to the town centre. Westwards is a small nursery based in a Victorian house on a pleasant street, close to Loughborough Endowed Schools and not far from a local park, which we visit.
Westwards offers nursery care, childcare, early years education and pre school learning opportunities for children from babies to four years old. All children can regularly access our outdoor space. We have an all weather surface and canopy so that children can play outside in all weathers. In our last OFSTED inspection we were awarded 'outstanding'.

Services
We offer a high quality and well resourced indoor environment which has been carefully planned to suit each age group in the nursery. The Sunshine Room, our light, airy baby room, offers a wide range of resources and materials suitable for babies aged up to 2 years. The photos show part of the room, a child taking time out to look at a book and a creative activity.
We are proud of our outdoor facilities, which we are continually developing to ensure outdoor opportunities for all children at Westwards are maximised. We have a large garden, part of which is covered by a canopy and has an astroturf surface, allowing access in any weather. We are not restricted by rain or strong sun, meaning that children can access valuable learning experiences in the outdoor space year round.
As well as experiencing the natural world on walks near nursery, we also visit a Forest School site owned by Loughborough University. At Forest School there are opportunities for all sorts of exciting activities to develop physical, communication and social and emotional skills. Some of the activities include den building, bug hunting, natural and transient art and mud pie making!
Owners Janet and Andrew Ward took over Westwards 20 years ago in 1996, having run our sister nursery for 13 years prior to that. Janet previously worked as an infant school teacher. Since then, Westwards has developed steadily, with the aim of providing high quality care and education in a homely environment.

Westwards is a home from home. My daughter loves it there and I knew it was the right place as soon as we first walked in. It's warm, cosy and inviting. With childrens drawings on the walls, and being set in a house, It feels homely and comforting. The staff are professional and friendly and I couldn't think of better hands to care for my daughter.

We chose Westwards before our son was born. The location is perfect for us but we'd have chosen it even if it was further away as we liked it so much. The atmosphere is very warm and homely, the staff are so kind and knowledgeable, the facilities are superb. Since our son has been there our opinion has only increased. He amazes me with things he's learnt there. Cannot recommend highly enough.
