From ancient history through to the present day our history workshops give your class the opportunity to explore and learn about life in the past. Whether they are learning about life in their Grandparents' time, uncovering Roman life or examining how the industrial revolution made Britain the "Workshop of the World" our activities enable your students to immerse themselves in the topic.
Visit our Grade II listed former woollen cloth mill, and immerse yourself in our interactive exhibits across two floors. Trowbridge Museum tells the story of the town, its residents, as well as the impact of the woollen cloth trade and industrial revolution. The museum has been housed in the Grade II listed Home Mills since 1990.
Trowbridge Museum is situated in the Shires Shopping Centre, on the 2nd floor of Home Mills. For easy parking, use the car park next to Asda, which is accessed from Bythesea Road, and use the Shires Shopping Centre entrance close to ASDA. Head straight to Boswell's Cafe, take the left fork and you will find the museum on your left.
Come and join the artists from "Illuminating the Overlooked" for alternative walks around Trowbridge that help will inspire your own creative pieces based on these observations. We'll be donning our doublet and hose, kirtles and coifs for some apple-themed Tudor cookery. Sample the delights of the Tudor.
In our shop you will find a range of books, gifts, greetings cards and souvenirs that will make your trip to the museum even more memorable. Together with our range of bespoke souvenirs, you will find a small and unique selection of items made by some of our volunteers, that feature some of the remaining pieces of cloth woven here at Home Mills and of course our famous hand knitted mice.

Have just moved to the town and went here with my daughter at the weekend.
Really great museum packed with interesting stories, facts and some really impressive items of historical significance on display. Weaving equipment and things for kids to get involved in. Quizzes galore. Really well presented as well.
Well worth a visit.

The museum now has two floors of exhibits (although seemed to me to have less on display than previously, maybe because it's less dark and cluttered and more open). It also has plenty of toilets on each floor, as well as rooms for things like windmill making classes, my granddaughter very much enjoyed this as did I. There were tables for refreshments, not quite sure if any were available or maybe school parties bring their own. Interesting views from the windows too.

Popped in today, our first visit since refurb... What an amazing space, lots for children to do, for me I want to go on my own, 😂 the top floor views give you a taste of Trowbridge of old... Seeing the wonky roofs and backs of buildings... Very helpful young man on desk Tim I think 😊 thanks staff for being friendly. Glad to see conigre pump and soup kitchen still on show.

Trowbridge Museum is fantastic. Nikki and David are awesome with my children and plan such amazing workshops all through the year. my kids always ask when we are going again. I have done several adult workshops… that are amazing and fantastic value for money ranging from screen printing, Christmas wreaths, sewing, felting and creating sculpture. Can't wait for what fun awaits in 2020 and the new mega amazing museum extension. Thank you Trowbridge Museum for being such an asset for the community.

Contrary to what has been reviewed on Googlemaps, Trowbridge Museum's website has advertised the fact that it is closed to the public pending refurbishment, clearly on the front page since June 2018. The Town Council website includes a tile that links directly to the Museum website, which anyone interested in visiting would and should have clicked. Anyone who travels even a shortish distance to a visitor attraction would be advised to check the attraction's website first to find out opening hours, accessibility, etc. However, we will ask the town council to update the tile so that it shows the
