There is access for wheelchairs via the ramp to the front entrance of the surgery. We only have two downstairs consulting rooms which are in constant use. Therefore it is essential you inform the receptionist when booking your appointment if you cannot go upstairs for your appointment. There is a toilet for the disabled in the main reception area.
There is a suggestion box available in reception and we welcome any suggestions about how we may improve our services. We are due to relocate South Street premises to Herts and Essex Hospital in the Summer of 2021 which will increase our ground floor facilities and offer car parking for patients. The Bishop's Park branch surgery is situated next to Tesco at Bishop's Park (just off the A120 roundabout).

Services
Chronic disease management including diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, hypertension, asthma & COPD. The nursing team offer other services such as family planning, cervical smears, epilepsy reviews and ECGs. Appointments for these conditions are not current available to book online as we need to check some information with you before booking so please contact the surgery by telephone.
Once a medicine has been added to your repeat prescriptions list then it is usually printed on the right hand side of the prescription form. The prescription form, which is green in colour, has two halves. The left hand side will be the token with a bar code that you would give to the pharmacy and then they will access the prescription electronically and dispense your medicines.
South Street Surgery welcomes new patients. If you would like to register with the Surgery please first of all check that you live within the practice area. Alternatively, you can download the registration forms below and bring them into the practice. It is important to complete your town and country of birth along with any previous address and GP details.
Please note that every care has been taken in the preparation of information on this Postcode Mapping Tool, however there may be instances where the Postcode Mapping Tool does not include your location even though it is within our Practice Boundary. An example of this may be new housing developments where the postcodes are not yet included on Google.
Please note that the working days and times shown for each doctor are subject to change due to training and emergency requirements. Doctors work at both sites so if you wish to see a specific Doctor you may need to be flexible in which site you go to and you may have to wait a little longer for an appointment.

I have been attending this surgery for 23 years and have always been treated with respect and empathy (except one notable occasion about 12 years ago when a receptionist took it upon herself to tell me I needed to sort my life out and tell me how efficient she had been with small children. I forgot to ask her if she had suffered the same debilitating condition that I had.)
Anyway, the GP's and nurses have been nothing but exemplary, thoughtful and kind. They have covered all options and offered support when required. I have even been called at home in the evening to check everything was okay.

Let’s start with one basic question. Who are General practitioners (GPs)? GPs focus on the health of the whole person (patient) combining physical, psychological and social aspects of care. Do you get this from GPs in this clinic? No. Let me tell you the importance about Mental Health and how serious this could be when the GP is not even listening to One properly, because GP will probably be late for his tea tonight... Because of such ignorant GPs, mental health stage is turning into mental illness in so many patients. Hopefully, this will be noticed one day. How do you sleep when doing your

This GP surgery has got to be the worst service experience any patient can ever receive. Something as simple as scheduling appointments or calling back a nurse or a doctor if you've missed their call is a nightmare!!! I don't understand why calls from doctors and nurses cannot be fixed at a mutually agreed time. For someone who is always on work calls, it is extremely difficult to answer calls at odd times from the clinic. Half my stress is because of such a terrible appointment system with this clinic. If you are reading this, can you please make this process easier for your patients?

Many visits.. will be the last now
I came in on Monday around 3:30pm to ask about message which came on my phone. There was a rude awful ladie who said that she couldn't be bothered to deal with my problem. She then asked me to call however they cut all calls online so I didn't have a choice so I came back instead of speaking through the taniod I went Straight into the surgery and told her to deal with my problem and then she pushed me out of the surgery. After this visit I will not returning I will not recommend this doctor anymore I have started going privately now and it's so much better it

Cannot fault this practice! Caring thorough Drs and medical staff with an efficient reception team - I have no complaints only praise.
Yes you may not be seen on the exact time of your appointment (this being a rarity) but I really don't expect to either, it is a surgery where the unexpected can occasionally occur.

I was really impressed by the new system of 'sit and wait'. It was a bit of a wait but I guess that is why it is referred to as a sit and WAIT clinic. The receptionists were very good and efficient and the nurse I saw was great. What I was not impressed with was a couple of the other patients who were so rude to the receptionists. The receptionists deserve a medal if they have to put up with these kind of people on a daily basis.
