Our Lady Of The Assumption Primary School
Our Lady's is a Catholic School, a partnership of parents, teachers, governors and the Church, working with the children to provide, in the words of Christ, "Life in all its fullness", (John 10.10) through care, learning and respect. Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Primary School in Blackpool welcomes you to its website.

We hope that it'll be an excellent way to keep up-to-date on the ins and outs of our school. Our school places Christ at the centre of all that we do and with your help and support, we can encourage and inspire all our children to grow in the image of Christ using His example as our model.

We have so much fun in Reception and we hope this webpage will give you an insight as to all of the learning that takes place. You will find information on our induction process, Curriculum overviews, links to useful websites, home learning support and many other things that will support your child's first year at our school.
I am sure it may have been an emotional but lovely week, as you have watched the children coming to and from school each day for a full week. I found this lovely quote which I thought was perfect for this time. The children have been delightful this week. They are learning the behavioural expectations and routines in our Reception class and I am very proud of them all.
These are the Curriculum Early Learning Goals that your child will be working towards over the the Reception Class year. Read Write Inc. uses a systematic approach to Phonics to help children to learn to read and write. Children learn new sounds daily - these are letters and the most common sound that they make.
I hope you and your families are all well. Please do what you can this week with your children, I realise you will be in varied situations which can make facilitating home learning difficult. Literacy - Rhyming activity, you do not need to have a printer for this, please just verbally say the rhyming images if that is best for you.
Our aim in Year 1 is to ensure that the children experience a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage One. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the skills and experiences the children have had in Reception.

Year 1 children will at times experience a more formal learning environment, however learning through child initiated activities and exploration will continue to be an important part of the children's learning journey, building on their own natural curiosities and creativity. This ensures the high levels of motivation and enthusiasm which are needed for an optimum learning environment, enabling them to thrive.
