Old Guadaloupe Farmhouse & Cottage
We are based in the Heart of Leicestershire, England one and a half miles from the historic Market Town of Melton Mowbray. Promoted as the "Rural Capital of Food", Melton Mowbray is perhaps best known for its culinary specialities, being the home of the eponymous pork pie and one of the five homes of Stilton cheese.

Melton Mowbray is bustling with activity on Tuesdays, when both street and cattle markets are held. Everything from clothing and household goods to fresh produce can be purchased. There is a large Saturday street market too, and on Wednesdays a small antique/bric-a-brac market takes place in the town centre.

Belvoir, meaning beautiful view in French, dates back to Norman times. The English pronounciation 'Beaver' was built up over many centuries throught the inability of Anglo-Saxons to master the French tongue. Belvoir Castle has been the ancestral home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland for one thousand years and is currently the family home of the 11th Duke and Duchess and their five children.

I came for my mum's 50th birthday weekend with my aunties and cousins. We all had plenty of space, the house was very honestly and well kept.
Helpful owners who showed is round, made themselves accessable but weren't under our toes either.
Loved the set up of the house. Hot tub out front overlooking fields and a kitchen overlooking a stable, beautiful.

This is where the wife and I stay to get away from it all.
Can't sing the praises of this little gem enough.
Clean, tidy and very well looked after, visited once a year for the past 8 years.

Thank you to Sue for making us feel so welcome and being such a gracious host!! Five of us from Wisconsin just spent a wonderful four days at the Farmhouse visiting friends in Melton Mowbray. The Farmhouse far exceeded expectations and was a great location for a visit to central England and an easy drive to the beautiful Peak District. The photos do not do the place justice -- the kitchen is beautiful with all modern amenities and we enjoyed a dinner party for eight with plenty of room. Melton Mowbray is a great place to visit -- especially on Market Day, and we especially enjoyed the Ann of Cleves

Great house and gardens, the hot tub was fab and the semi-rural location made for peace and quiet but with near-by amenities. We'll be back.
