Welcome to the Clan Cameron Museum which was opened by Sir Fitzroy Maclean of Dunconnell in 1989. The founding of the Museum was enthusiastically backed by the Clan worldwide who contributed generously and since that time we have been visited by clansfolk from all over the world and by many people interested in the history of the Highlands.
Clan Cameron Museum is operated by Clan Cameron Charitable Trust, a charity registered in Scotland. We raise funds wherever possible to support the aims of the trust and to operate the Museum and associated archives. We accept donations to help with this work. The Camerons have lived in Lochaber since the 14th century and the Museum traces the history of the Clan from its early beginnings to the present day, through 27 generations.

After emailing to book online, the curator was kind enough to open up for us. The museum was full of amazing information, books to read, artifacts to admire, and even records to show where the clan have all emigrated to. I went with my Husband who is a Cameron, and we found out things even he didn't know. The gift shop is packed full of lovely things, and definitely found gifts for everyone. In an amazing area, of outstanding beauty, the curator was also kind enough to show us where to walk to see the castle from a prime place to take photo's. Will definitely be visiting again with the family.

Didn't visit the musem but was lucky enough to get some ice cream while doing the great Glen way. The owner/woman who worked there saw us approaching for ice cream as she was leaving in her car and went back to get us some. Best ice cream I've tasted and the owner/worker went above and beyond, an absolute star.

A well-laid out and tidy museum with interesting exhibits set in the old post office. I was interested in exhibits relating to 1745 and there was plenty to see on this topic, as well as a room about famous Camerons and the Commandos who trained here. The museum is in a lovely location and we carried on to Loch Arkaig after our visit and played poohsticks over the bridge by Eas Chia-aig waterfall. Well worth a visit, thank you.

The museum sits in the middle of the territory our ancestors had to leave. Whether it was because of Culloden, or the Clearances, to our grandparents the lands surrounding Achnacarry are sacred. That feeling was passed on to many of us through their stories, through genealogy research, and just discovery your highland roots. The museum acts as a… center for visitors and has a rich history display. Close by to Achnacarry and Donald Cameron of Lochiel, the museum offered us a gateway. It was our destination. It was one of those places we had to visit. It was on our bucket list and it did not
