An introductory flight in a microlight is an awesome gift for someone special or to celebrate that special occasion. We are based at Lee on Solent, on the South Coast near Fareham, Gosport and Portsmouth. We fly in scenic surroundings close to the coast around Portsmouth and Chichester Harbour, Hayling Island and around the Isle of Wight!
A stunning location from every viewpoint! To gain your NPPL (microlight) you will need a minimum of 25 hours flight training with an accredited CAA Flying Instrucor and pass five ground exams as well as your General Flying Test to obtain your NPPL. With the right instructor and a healthy dose of motivation, becoming a fully qualified pilot is well within most people's reach.

In 1992 he started flying light aircraft and went to America to obtain his commercial pilot's license (CPL), where he became type rated on twin engine aircraft and seemed destined for a career as an airline pilot! However adventure got the better of him and he went to Africa in 1993 to establish Batoka Sky, the microlighting company that offers pleasure flights over the Victoria Falls.
The best way to find out what microlighting is all about is to come and have an introductory flight. You'll be given a quick one on one briefing, showing you the controls and how to take your seat behind / aside the instructor and taking to the skies. The term 'microlight' refers (in the UK) to any aircraft weighing less than 450kg MAUW, a maximum of 2 occupants, and various specific limits with regard to wing loading and stall speed.
Our students are our priority, and our aim is to train you towards a high level of competence and airmanship, in a time frame that suits you, in an open and friendly environment. Full time Instructor with over 30 years flying experience and 5000 plus hours on a range of different aircraft, including light aircraft, gliders, and both types of microlight.
Embarking on a course of lessons is a big investment, and you should make sure that you are fully informed before signing up so you don't get any surprises further down the line. When starting a course, it is worth sitting down with your instructor and going through all the associated costs that you will be expected to pay throughout your training.
Buying your own microlight: We recommend that you don't buy a microlight before you have got your license. Most instructors prefer to use their own machines for training, and the experience you gain on your course will be invaluable in choosing the right kind of microlight for you. Your instructor will also be able to advise you, and may even be able to come with you to cast their expert eye over your planned purchase.
