The award-winning Chaucer Barn makes the perfect year-round private retreat for smaller intimate groups or larger weddings. We have 20 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds, and luxury accommodation for 18 guests. During the summer, it's a good idea to make the most of our National Garden Scheme-approved gardens.
Winter is such a wonderful time of year to tie the knot - from crisp, festive weather to cosy, intimate gatherings, there's so much to embrace. Spring and summer are notoriously known as silly seasons when it comes to choosing the time of year to tie the knot. Venues and suppliers are more expensive and often booked up years in advance.
We want your wedding or event to be exactly what you want. We don't insist on our own caterers or suppliers - we provide the blank canvas with which you can create your perfect day. Tired of being told how to plan your own wedding, when to eat, what to drink, when to dance, when to go home? At Chaucer Barn, we do things differently.
Because you have exclusive privacy at Chaucer Barn you will have had up to 24 hours in which to relax with your house guests, sink your roots and take 'ownership' of the Barn. Therefore, when the majority of your friends and family arrive for the wedding day you will have already adopted Chaucer Barn as your home.
Do you have a vision of a natural, outdoor wedding? Most of our guests choose to marry in a natural setting, either in our gardens or in the woods. Chaucer Barn features a stone circle near the woods which is a beautiful setting for a ceremony. There are also three tree circles you can use. Stone circles hark back to ancient pre-Christian celebration of nature.

Having had two postponed wedding dates, we FINALLY got to have our BEST DAY EVER at Chaucer Barn last weekend! It truly is a fantastic venue. Photos really don't do it justice - you have to BE THERE to feel that home from home vibe that can be further achieved by adding your own personal touches around the place. Tessa was brilliant. She was always quick to answer any queries and re-assure us throughout all the uncertainties - and was particularly helpful during set-up when a few unexpected issues arose! The weather was kind enough for us to hold the ceremony outside, which was a bonus as the grounds

We can’t thank the team at Chaucer barn enough for our wonderful wedding. Tessa was incredible and helped on every step of our big day to make sure we didn’t have to worry (she even carried my wife’s train through the gardens on the way to the ceremony so it didn’t get muddy!!) everyone commented on what a stunning venue it was and we were so lucky to get married there!

Just lead a wedding at The Chaucer Barn as a Humanist wedding celebrant and this venue stands out as a beautifully intimate but versatile series of spaces in which to host your independant and highly individual event. We held our wedding day at Chaucer Barn last Saturday and couldn't have hoped for a more perfect venue. It was a home from home that allowed us to put together a celebration that was truly us, surrounded by friends and family. This was our third date following Pandemic restrictions, but Tessa and the team were incredibly flexible and ensured we could eventually have our day. If you would like a DIY wedding in the Norfolk countryside, this is a perfect base.
