Services
At The Maids Head Hotel, we strive to provide the very best experience a hotel can offer. To this end, we have set out our vision and values which guide the whole team to offering the very best customer service and an exemplary experience during your time here. Being positive, taking ownership, going the extra mile and being exceptional in everything we do.
The Maids Head Hotel claims to be the oldest hotel in the UK. It certainly has a long and rich history. The first Norman Bishop of Norwich, Herbert de Losinga had his original palace here, so we base our claim on the site's continuous use for hospitality since the middle of the 1090s.

Just over the road from Norwich Cathedral and located in one of the oldest parts of the city - Wensum Street is thought to date from Roman times - the hotel is the perfect base for a city break or an exploration of the county.
The Maids Head Hotel is able to provide complimentary car parking to all our guests. The Car park can be located on Pigg Lane which is a cobbled side road off Palace street, just past the main entrance of the hotel, postcode NR3 1RS. There are no barriers, however there is a number plate recognition system managed by an external company that requires all visitors to provide their car registration number with reception.
If you would like to book one of our offers then we are currently offering flexible cancellation terms in order to give you complete peace of mind. From luxurious extras to add onto your stay to festive events designed to help you make the most of your Maids Head Hotel experience and your stay in the Fine City of Norwich.
We have a range of dining options at Maids Head Hotel. From award winning food and drink in our fine dining restaurant, to a delicious afternoon tea or even a drink and a light lunch in our Maids Head Bar or one of our comfortable lounge areas. Our 2 AA Rosettes WinePress Restaurant offers a fine dining experience in the heart of Norwich.

A disappointing visit TBH
Stayed one night with our pouch
Not dog friendly at all, more dog tolerance
Evening meal was not as good as expected
Mains excellent, but starter and dessert big let down
Room was good
Service was mixed from poor to good so a big opportunity as hospitality industry
Needs to review covid policy as didn't feel comfortable at all both staff and layout
Shame as was an important function with family. Wouldn't revisit

Have just had afternoon tea with my auntie, whose birthday it was,so a special occasion. Had to say I was a bit disappointed with the scones as the cheese ones had very little taste, and the cinnamon ones which I did not have, looked burnt and not very big. The waitress was lovely and asked how it was and when i complained she went straight to the kitchen and told them, and when she came back the explanation was that they looked like that because they had cinnamon in!! l think it would have been nice to have something took off the bill, just as a goodwill gesture, as I was not the only customer

Great hotel, with so much history. Comfortable room and great location for the cathedral and city centre. Wetherspoons next door for a few drinks is a bonus

So disappointed, the room had a "wow" factor to it but we wondered why there was a portable heater in there. By 4am the room was freezing cold and the heater got turned up to full. The windows in the bathroom didn't close completely leaving a draft. The bathroom curtains wouldn't then close allowing the draft in. To top it off we had no lights for our morning shower after 4hrs sleep due to being so cold and the noisy street. Went to reception & they completely understood why I was disappointed and we got a full refund.

Short visit while Christmas shopping in town. Friendly staff, room & bathroom very clean. The only minus was breakfast buffet. The food wasn't hot. Loved the Bentley which apparently is available for hotel guests to be taken on a short ride.

Really good casual dining atmosphere, but great food and wine. We had a wine flight and each wine was described for our meal, with wines being substituted out for different ones based on some course changes for certain members of the group.
The staff were super accomodating and friendly throughout the evening. I would definitely return.

Met here for nostalgic purposes for a drink with old school friends. Long gone is the bar that used to serve 100's of people on a Friday and Saturday night. It's now just a snug bar that feels like it nods to the past. Service is traditional and friendly. I only drank beer which was good. Bar looked well stocked. Good place to meet up with a relatively small crowd.
