I was born in Sheffield and educated at King Edward VII School, Sheffield and following A- levels and a chance visit to the careers office in Sheffield I ended up studying for a part-time B.Sc. degree in urban estate Surveying at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham which was a five-year degree course studied one day a week.
As the name suggests, this was back in the day before 'Trent Poly' became Nottingham Trent University and I have recently celebrated 37 years in the profession. I am married with two married daughters and two wonderful granddaughters to keep me on my toes. It is just as well that I have embarked on yet another diet and fitness routine to try to keep up with them.

We have developed a range of Surveys which can be tailored to suit individual requirements and needs and although we have general report formats, the design is such that we are not constrained by paragraph headings. We are always happy to try to give you exactly what you need within the framework rather than offering you a one size fits all approach and therefore compromising on what you need.
We carry out Schedules of Condition for intending Tenants taking on the Lease of commercial premises from a Landlord. The purpose of the Schedule of Condition is to provide a detailed, point by point description of any condition items noted within the property that would fall within the terms of a repairing clause to put right.
We are qualified and experienced and able to provide a range of Professional (Red Book) Valuations for a variety of purposes. These various purposes may include joint instructions from Solicitors or Accountants in respect of matrimonial or family disputes, probate or inheritance tax, capital gains tax where a Valuation needs to be provided at a previous date, family trusts and similar.

Almost 5 pm on Friday afternoon, whilst being on your holiday , preparing for your chilled glass of wine. At this fine moment a stranger asks for your personal number via email, so that he can give you a call to discuss some damp issues on his house.
What do you do?

Well , let this "stranger" , Jeno Papp introduce the guy who texted his number straight away, answered the phone and had a 20 mins conversation, evaluation and diagnosis about dampness, insulation and damp proof course, resting his thirst, just in order

I highly recommend Ashmore Surveyors Ltd to anyone who needs reassurance and professional help with a survey. Mike Cowley is so friendly and understanding and explains everything, he puts you at ease straight away and tells you how it is. I hadn’t purchased a house for over 20 years and he surveyed that property, so no other choice but to go back now I’m purchasing a new property, I trust Mike 100%. Mike is professional and takes the time to listen to you and cater directly to your needs. The report after his visit was produced very quickly and was easy to understand along with some great advice

Brilliant service. From first enquiring about a survey the service was great. Given example survey reports to look through to choose a suitable one for ourselves. Once we had decided, the process was quick. Survey done on the Tuesday and report received the following Monday. Very informative and helpful especially for a first time buyer!

Having purchased a property during lockdown with only the permitted 20 minutes viewing time, and not being local, we contacted Mike at Ashmore’s on recommendation. His friendly and knowledgeable approach couldn’t be faulted and he sent examples of previous redacted reports for us to see. The survey and report done for us by Gary was equally professional and has proved very useful in our decision to purchase the property.. Fantastic service. The survey was arranged quickly and for a reasonable price. The report was straightforward and detailed. Gary and Mike really went above and beyond to help me as a first time buyer understand the condition of the property and provided additional advice and information after the report was created. Would highly recommend and will be back if I ever buy another property!
