The Royal Spice is a favourite with lovers of authentic Indian food and since it opened 10 years ago it just keeps getting busier. In the last ten years' business has really boomed and owner Zaff Hussain says it's all down to its first class food and excellent service. Royal Spice at Station Road Darton can accommodate 150 customers in its two attractive dining rooms and most weekends is full and the atmosphere buzzing so it's advisable to book.

Tried this place last week for first time. it's the only takeaway in the past year that hasn't made me Ill afterwards. i struggle with fat content in food so credit to you that the meal felt healthy and I felt fine afterwards, it was so tasty too

Would like to give this zero but can leave a revue if I do this. I ordered a meal on Tuesday night which arrived very cold after waiting over nearly over two hours which was a good hour over the time told this meal would arrive this meal was nearly £30.00 phoned up and was told they would sent a replacement the next evening this meal turned up again cold only this time wasn't cooked properly phoned yet again and told there was no one about that could deal with this and someone would phone me at 5.30pm Friday tonight I left it till 7pm no one called so yet again I phoned and asked for a refund

We have been here semi regularly since 2007 and we always come back. We used to have chicken nawabi (amazing) and try a different dish each time. Recently the Chicken Paneer topped the nawabi and I have swapped over to that. There are new additions to the menu including a fish dish that my husband had and honestly it was so hot but so flavoursome at the same time. The customer service is always second to none too. Thanks guys!

Heard good things about this place but really disappointing. Ordered on Just Eat and took over 2 hours to come! Shouldn't be accepting orders if they are that busy. Was also flat cold when it arrived. Will not be ordering again

Average buffet menu and somewhat dated restaurant in need of freshening up. Buffet selection was limited but nice. Staff friendly but not worth a second visit.

This place is an absolute must try, from the moment we walked into to the moment we walked out it felt like we were valued customers. All staff were friendly helpful and we're willing to go the extra mile to ensure we were happy with our experience. I must mention that a few mistake were made by staff but these were easily rectified and I cant lower the rating based on mistake which was handled perfectly. As for the food, amazing. A lot of effort went into the food which you can taste in the flavour and see in the presentation, it felt like I was actually eating at a restaurant in India. Another

Fantastic meal, the food was hot, well presented and well worth the money. We ordered two starters and two mains sundries and a bottle of wine, unfortunately there was lipstick marks on the wine glass which wasn't well received from my partner. This was rectified quickly and the drink and glass replaced. All other aspects of service were spot on. Still far better than mapplewells kfc!

To be honest, my boyfriend and I was looking for good food. Feel upset about that. Not much choice for customers. Curries were not replenished just left with sauce. No atmosphere. There was a lot of chicken wings only. Very disappointed still hungry after our visit. Carpet needs hovering.
