The Beatson House Team is delighted to welcome you to Beatson House, unashamedly a 'Yorkshire Fine Dining Restaurant'. Our menu is based on a balance of regular favourites blended with those dishes you don't cook at home every day with a focus on using fresh and local ingredients. Beatson House is a unique location based in a conversion of a 18th Century cottage and the original village butcher's shop.
We are in the conservation area of the picturesque village of Cawthorne near Cannon Hall Farm where 5 on the Farm is filmed. Lee has been a Chef at Beatson House for over 20 years and became our Head Chef when Nikki and Simon took over ownership in 2017. A local lad, trained at Barnsley's Catering College.

Services
We work with Berkmann Wine Cellars, our vintners, to provide a wine list that gives you the chance to try new wines/lesser-known producers, giving something a little different. Suited to all tastes and budgets that you won't find on supermarket shelves, just to make your visit that little bit special.
As it is such a lengthy process we request that you order your Barnsley chop a few days in advance of dining to avoid disappointment. Whilst many restaurants have often claimed they serve the genuine lamb chop, few keep to the actual cut of the meat which was introduced over 8 decades ago. The art of cooking the meat is a slow and loving process that few have the patience for and instead introduce second rate imitations onto their menus.
Our rooms are available to book for all occasions, whether that's for a family gathering or wedding reception. Whether it's a romantic meal, family gathering, a meeting or a party, our four rooms seat up to 20, 16, 12 and 10 people and provide just the right atmosphere to make everyone feel like a VIP.

What a hidden little gem. Outstanding service and food. We went for a Sunday dinner along with a starter and desert. The roast potatoes have a unique crispy skin and stuffing was very tasty. The tomato and red pepper soup was one of the best I've had.
The puddings were spectacular, my wife had the posset (first time ever) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the coconut cheesecake and it was freshly made and delicious. Truly is a little gem.
I will be returning very soon!
Only criticism, could do with a few more beers on draft.

The £25-£30 (before wine) price range for a 3 course meal is a very competitive market. But B H certainly succeeds. Good food, good service, nice ambiance. Perhaps parking area is a little small but road parking is easy. Certainly worth a visit. Footnote; Check opening times as I'm not certain, booking probably essential
