Founded in 1908, our course is situated in countryside five miles south of Middlesbrough. With stunning views of the Cleveland Hills, there are many attractive and challenging holes that will test golfers of all handicaps. Designed by James Braid, the course takes advantage of the natural ravines and undulating land that make up our parkland setting.
Playing the course is a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Visitors and members are sure to enjoy a warm welcome from our friendly house team and club professionals. Our team can provide flexible catering options for your group, from breakfast to three-course dining. For 2020, the Ladies' and Gents' Captains have chosen to support a single charity jointly: The Russ Devereux Headlight Project.

Those of us who are privileged to play our golf at Brass Castle should raise a glass or two to that group of far-sighted Middlesbrough businessmen who made it all happen over a hundred years ago. We should especially toast Mr Dormand Stewart Jnr, for it was he who recognised the need for a golf course within the boundary of the town to match those available in the towns of Seaton Carew, Redcar and Stockton.
Founded in 1908, Middlesbrough Golf Club was based at Saltersgill Farm until 1938 when we moved to our present location. Designed by James Braid (five times Open Champion), the renowned golf course architect fully exploited the natural ravines and undulating land. Our course is situated in countryside five miles south of Middlesbrough with stunning views of the Cleveland Hills.
Renowned golf course architect and Five-times Open Champion James Braid designed more than 400 courses, including our own. Over 300 of those courses came together in the Association of James Braid Courses, founded by a Past Captain and Past President of Henley Golf Club. Members of Middlesbrough Golf Club enjoy preferential green fees at these courses when booking in advance.
We are proud members of the Society of 1908 Golf Clubs, established to promote friendship between clubs. Members of Middlesbrough Golf Club enjoy access to member courses on a reciprocal or discounted basis when booking in advance. Courses within a 50 mile radius of Middlesbrough offer 50% off green fees.
Members have been using the BRS online booking system for a full year now and it has proved to be very successful. Following a decision by the Managing Committee, it has been decided to implement an additional part of the BRS system. This is called the 'Competition Purse' and it is a new way to pay for competition entry fees, and sweeps.

Great course, nicely presented and in lovely condition with some lovely looking holes. Greens were a little slow but that is probably down to the recent weather.
The only down side was the strange attitude of the staff in the clubhouse who seemed to expect us to be able to order food and drink without being able to see a menu. Beer selection wasn't great either, so we went to a pub afterwards instead.

Really nice golf course and we'll worth a visit to play. Have to be honest the clubhouse staff could do with working on their welcoming skills as they seemed to expect you knew what you could order without being able to see a menu. And when you asked what could you have it seemed to be a bit of a chore. That aside very good course and worth playing.
