Hand ground meats, house made sauces, relishes and mayos, local baked buns, perfectly formed burgers, we believe they are the best around! We have been curing meats for years and at the begining of 2016 we put in a smokehouse: you can now find ever changing smoked treats across our menu! Local suppliers, always (it was never a fad for us).
We use: Flint Owl Bakery, Holmansbridge Farm, Downsview Farm, FISH, Infinity Foods, Alsop & Walker, Cheeseman, Russells Fruiterers, Plumpton Wine Estate, Ridgeview Wines and Wobblegate Juices to name a few! Towards the end of 2016, Andrew our landlord scaled up his home brew hobby and installed a small 1/2 barrel brewery in the cellar.

I have stumbled upon this place by a sheer coincidence and I couldn't have been more pleased. The staff was very friendly and nice. The pub is extremely cozy with its log fires and lovely beamed ceilings. They have different types of beer on the tap so even a fussed beer lover can find something to their liking. The food was delicious, it was obvious that it's made from good quality products and with care. If I ever happen to be in Lewes again (which I hope so) I will be more than happy to visit The Pelham Arms again.

Wanted to leave a quick message to thank everyone working last night. The food, the service, the atmosphere was just incredible. The brisket burger was on another level and my friend James who touted “this is… the best burger in Lewes” wasn’t wrong! The team were all over the service, attentive, observant and couldn’t have done more!🙌

A great pub with great service and really friendly staff. The meat and cheese platter made a great starter to share- all excellent local produce - a good choice of mains (some good stuff on the specials board) all well cooked and good value. There were good veggie options too. We booked a table for 6.15PM and it was already busy so recommend booking. There is free parking at the council offices across the road at weekends.

Great pub, great food, great beers, great staff. We sat in the garden as sun was out and had lunch. Plant based for me which was delicious. Plenty of options to please the youngsters too it all looked very tasty and good value. Locally sourced for a lot of the food too. Even the dog had a lovely time. We'll be back soon. Next time I will get the train so I can have a tasty pint of Abyss. Thanks

Went here for to get a quick bite to eat and drink on a rainy Sunday evening. The fact they were still doing food was a bonus (a lot of places weren't). The platter we shared was good value and tasty, the drink was fine, the choice of which was in line with most of the other pubs in the area. It had a welcoming atmosphere and wasn't too busy / wasn't too quiet.
All in all I think this was my favourite pub in Lewes.

In a 17th century oak beamed building at the top of Lewes High Street, the Pelham Arms is a pleasant and popular pub. They have a good selection of beers on tap and the food is nice - not too fussy but good pub food. We had a Sunday roast here and the potions were appropriately hearty. The menus are written on movable blackboards, and the kids menu is written on a mini blackboard with coloured wooden balls which slide along, which is a cute detail. I have also been in to have a drink at about 5.30 on a weekday evening and it was very busy which suggests it is a thriving community local. They

The pub used to be a bit of an old mans pub, was a bit horrible and had the worst decor I've ever seen.
Now it's a lovely place, great staff, good selection of drink, tastefully decorated and the food is outstanding.
Has a much more welcoming atmosphere under the new management the place has really got on it's feet, I hope it continues to grow in the same manner.

This used to be a really nice historic old pub, with good real ale, really outstanding food, and a lovely beer garden out the back..
Now it's just nice, having gone through several transformations on the food front, (first up and then back down-market). It's now settling back to more straightforward pub food (which we haven't yet sampled), and it still retains a good choice of real-ales.
The staff seem friendly enough, but the atmosphere isn't quite what it was, with just the wrong sort of juke-box music in the background (to me, rock and historic pubs just don't
