As cinemas opened in post war Paris, a group of French filmmakers and critics were able to watch Hollywood movies again and were struck by a series of stylish dark movies that had emerged in the early 40s.A new season from the Barbican, debating new ideas arising from the relationship between autism and cinema.

We visited The Depot on 22 January for an evening meal before the cinema. The service was quick and efficient, the food was exceptionally good as was the wine and coffee. Cannot praise The Depot enough. Thank you.

I absolutely love this place. The restaurant has excellent food and coffee and you can eat outside or inside. The atmosphere is welcoming and being able to have a snack or meal either before or after you see a movie in the cinema is wonderful.

Went to see the Royal Ballet live stream at the Depot and had dinner in the restaurant beforehand. All very enjoyable, very good 3 course meal and wine and the ballet stream was excellent. It's Christmas so, of course, it was the Nutcracker, it was great fun, very colourful etc. Seating was "separated" with an empty seat between groups, but all available seats were taken. At the end some folks stood up and applauded, not sure how the Royal Ballet in London was supposed to hear them in Lewes but it shows that, like me, they really enjoyed the performance and showing. And the great meal in the restaurant

Really enjoyed my first visit. Didn't use the restaurant but the coffee was nice and there is a lovely outdoor space. Close to the station and there is another car park near the football club.

Nice venue with a wonderful cinema unfortunately many of the more senior members of staff are utterly ageist and treat anyone below the age of 30 with utter contempt! Both myself and my fiance where subject to such behaviour on several occasions ( benefit of the doubt and all that) which is such a shame for the attitudes and actions of a few ruin what would otherwise be a wonderful experience.
In summary if you are under the age of 30 and don't enjoy being discriminated against I strong advise that you avoid the Depot with a passion.

We had our wedding reception at the Depot and it was so perfect. Bonnie was fantastic, working with us throughout to arrange the meals for our guests and the rooms for hire. In particular, we had a guest who has misophonia with cutlery sounds, and Bonnie and the staff had a great idea to set up our guest in another room with paper plates and wooden cutlery, which worked out fantastically and our guest was very happy! The venue itself is beautiful, and the food was all absolutely delicious. Highly, highly recommended.

Great venue! Both for movies but also for a nice bite and drinks. Very welcoming and their sustainability credentials are always a bonus. Beautiful outdoors for summer or warm days.

Brilliant venue, art space, cafe, cinema and restaurant. This place does it all. We had a lovely meal followed by a great film. This is how cinema should be done. The under 25's price was amazing value. A great way to keep cinema alive for the younger audiences. Really loved our night out, thank you.

Best cinema experience for ages. Great to see a cinema that takes responsibility and actually asks customers to wear a mask (and will give you one of you don't have one), made me feel much more secure. Good screens, comfy seats, nice big courtyard, local craft beer. Excellent.
