Services
Formed in 1993, Fire Shield Limited, a privately owned company is a highly respected organisation within the fire protection industry. Our team of dedicated staff have worked within the built-in fire protection sector for many years, providing extensive knowledge and experience to work closely with our clients.
Fire protective boards can be fitted around steel columns and beams to form a box and are usually secured by mechanical fixing into the web of the steel. Fire Shield Board fire protection systems are designed to offer up to 240 minutes fire protection. The systems we install protect the steel by providing a heatproof insulation.
Building regulations outline the need for large buildings to be divided into compartments, and specifies the level of fire performance the compartment walls and floors need to achieve in order to preserve both building structure and life through fire and smoke containment.
In most buildings, mechanical and electrical services by necessity breach compartment walls and floors allowing failure of integrity and insulation to occur where gaps around services have not been adequately fire stopped. The use of correctly installed proprietary certified fire stopping systems will contain a fire at its source and limit the risk of the destruction caused by the spread of fire and the release of toxic gasses.

At Fire Shield we know how important the visibility and management of costs are to ensure that programme targets and budgets are achieved. For this reason, we have spent time researching and investing in providing our application engineers with hand-held PDA's ensuring that all completed installations are recorded in real-time and logged centrally which can then be accessed by our clients for a live view of cost and productivity information.
The use of any product can be undermined by poor application. As built-in Fire Protection is a safety critical trade, it is imperative that the installation of fire protection systems are closely monitored and checked. FIRAS is a third party accreditation and certification scheme for installers of built-in Fire Protection Systems and is accredited by UKAS to EN45011.
