The Lodge On The Loch

Beginning with a purpose built lodge beside the Loch of Aboyne, The Lodge on the Loch Spa Retreat has subsequently developed to encompass thirty-five acres of pine woodland with its own golf course and magnificent loch-side terrace.Over the years many thousands of guests have shared and enjoyed Derek and Jean's dream, and today 'The Lodge' is rightfully considered amongst the premier Scottish Highlands spa retreats.

Stayed last week for four nights. Wonderful service from Jean and Dereck who went above and beyond to take care of us and ensure our stay was the best it could be. Even went so far as to google opening times for a restaurant in Aberdeen without us even asking Jean to, offered to make reservations at a nearby restaurant for us, and catered to two vegans for breakfast & dinner with no problems whatsoever. The lodge was so beautiful, homely and peaceful/quiet that was well adapted to COVID restrictions in our mind. Have already recommended to several friends & family and would happily go again if

Rooms dirty, carpet worn fixtures falling off the wall. Steam shower didn't work, relaxing room just a few chairs and the message room was cold and and no music. Food was warm and not the menu shown on the website, mediocre at best. Entire experience was poor and a major diasspointment. The pictures posted on the booking sites are at least 10years out of date.

Stayed in Hammam room 3 with my partner - we had an amazing time! Having the sauna, steam shower and Japanese style bath was amazing. Beautiful quiet and relaxing surroundings. Owners were tremendous and very friendly. We would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere to unwind and enjoy the peace & quiet in the luxury of your own room. Can't wait to go back! :)

We stayed for three nights while horseback riding. The Lodge was very comfortable and welcoming. Jean knows a tremendous amount about the history and attractions of the area as well as the wildlife. The food was delicious and service is spot-on. I hope to be able to return and highly recommend it!

Myself and my husband stayed in the Glentanar suite which was lovely and spacious. The bed was very comfortable although strangely short (my 5ft 10 husband was slightly too tall for the bed) and the curtains were amazing at keeping light out in the morning to allow us to have a nice long lie.
We paid extra to use the hot tub on the private terrace of the suite. Unfortunately another family that were staying in the hotel at the time kept stepping over the barrier to the terrace and using the terrace as a short cut to go for walks. I feel the barrier could definitely be improved upon to save this

Absolutely fantastic place to spend time. It is a gem in the Highlands. I could've stayed there forever. Jean and Derek are the best hosts. The atmosphere they have created adds wonders to the magic surrounding the lodge. I would not hesitate to stay at the lodge if you are thinking about it, great food, well kept place and the friendliest most welcoming people. Thank you so much for a magical time.

Just recently stayed here and unfortunately it was not a great experience The people in charge were very rude who made you feel very uncomfortable and if you needed anything it was an issue as it’s meant to be spa you’d think you’d be able to relax
Next thing was the extra charge for the hot tub, now this was not declared when we checked in nor was it on the website when we booked. An extra £30 a day on top of what was an expensive room as it is that was not a good size. Itwas sneaky as they just hit you with the bill at the end. The food was frozen and just heated up and

Location is perfect but hospitality is appalling. Worst experience ever. On checking in the owner turned her back to me. When asked how dinner was organised, I was told we needed to order at that time, 18:00 hours..... Any later wasn't possible. At checking out time, 10:00 AM, lights and water were turned off, loud banging on door and shouting. Left key as instructed on door and left balcony door wide open , but as owner posted herself in front of car, apparently needed to be handed over... It was a disgusting experience.

Stunning location and a beautiful room which was ideal for us and our two dogs. The food was great, well made and wholesome and the whisky collection was well stocked and reasonably priced. The hosts were brilliant and chatty. Highly recommended.
