Barnacre Cottages
Barnacre Cottages were the first 5 Star, Gold Award winning, self-catering holiday cottages in Lancashire. Created from the old stone buildings of an 18th century farmhouse that had lain empty and neglected for many years, we spent two years converting these beautiful farm buildings into superb holiday cottages aspiring to the very highest standards of self-catering holiday accommodation.

Since then, we have continued to improve and renew our properties so that we can offer our guests a true 5 Star self-catering experience - Woodpecker Cottage and The Old Stables have been extended to cater for large groups, suitable for family reunions and other special occasions. The quality of the self-catering accommodation is matched by our superb location, with magnificent views towards the Lancashire coast and the Lake District.
Services
The largest of our self-catering holiday cottages, Woodpecker Cottage is detached, luxurious, stone-built, and has seven bedrooms, six of which are en-suite, making it especially suitable for groups of six couples and large families. Standing on the brow of the hill at the top of the seven-acre field, Woodpecker Cottage enjoys panoramic views towards the coast and the Lake District.
The Old Stables is a large 5-Star luxury self-catering holiday cottage that sleeps up to 13 guests plus a cot, in six bedrooms and is ideal for family reunions or friends groups wishing to visit Lancashire. As its name suggests, the Old Stables was where the horses were kept many years ago, except that the wooden partitions and hayracks have now been replaced by a beautiful Mark Wilkinson American Oak kitchen.
Standing at the top of the field, this detached, stone built luxury self-catering holiday cottage, commands spectacular views over the surrounding Lancashire countryside and is ideal for small groups or extended families. Mole End is a 5-Star luxury self-catering holiday cottage in Lancashire with underfloor heating and an Aga stove.
Sleeping six, Partridge Cottage is the middle cottage between Pheasant Cottage and Old Stables. Attractive decorations and furnishings make this an ideal self-catering holiday cottage for a self-catering family holiday in Lancashire. Enjoy superb 5* self-catering accommodation in the Forest of Bowland with easy access Blackpool and Lancaster, and within easy travelling of the Yorkshire Dales, Cumbria and the Lake District.
The Piggeries, as its name suggests, was created from the original piggeries! Now it is a 5 Star Gold, luxury, self-catering holiday cottage, With huge entertaining spaces and en-suite accommodation for four couples, it is ideal for group breaks or special occasions with extended family. The views across to the Cumbrian coast and Lake District are spectacular by day and magical at night.

Fabulous homely accomodation with welcoming owners. We were left the best Victoria sponge I've ever had as a welcome from the owners. I'm a pastry cook so know a good cake when I see one 😋

Kendal gave us a very warm welcome and delicious cake to start our week off. She was very polite and helpful with any questions that we had and sorted me out with a mechanic when my car broke down. Woodpecker cottage was well furnished, with everything thing that we could have needed. The cottage Comfortably accommodated 9 adults and 5 children. The location of woodpecker cottage is both perfect for a quiet break away or a base to see the Lancashire sites. Over all we would strongly recommend these cottages.

Beautiful accommodation with spectacular views and really good facilities all round.
Sadly there is no sound proofing in the rooms to the extent that if someone in a neighbouring room turns over in their bed it echoes through your room. Don't expect a good night's sleep if more than one bedroom is in use.

Booked in here for a family gathering. We filled 3 of the cottages. The one I was in (Woodpecker) was superb. There are 2 rooms with disabled access showers and most of the downstairs was on one level, only the conservatory was down some steps.
There is a large, safe green area outside with some picnic benches, a tennis court and some swings. The kids had a great time.

Spent a lovely 2 days with the family in the Piggeries - plenty of room for 7 adults and 2 children. The house was lovely and warm when we arrived and Sue had left a homemade cake for us - nice touch. Plenty of board games and books provided. Great lounge with wood burning stove, beautiful views from the lounge, kitchen and 2 of the bedrooms. Would recommend and would love to visit again sometime in the future.
