Acupuncture has been used for over 3,000 years. There are many theories as to how the effects of acupuncture arise. The traditional (Chinese) view is that energy flows freely when the body is in a healthy state. If there is a problem, energy stagnates which leads to pain. The stimulation of appropriate acupuncture points by insertion of a fine needle frees this energy.
Sandy Mount Physiotherapy Centre recognises the importance of general fitness and the feeling of well being that comes from playing sport. When sports injuries occur they need to be dealt with swiftly to prevent an acute injury from becoming chronic, and to ensure other problems do not develop. We offer treatment of sports injuries from the acute stage through to the final rehabilitation in the gym.
Back pain is among the most common medical problems. Back pain can also be among the most difficult and frustrating. We at Sandy Mount believe that education and a better understanding of the causes of back pain will assist patients in their recovery from back pain. Muscle strains are the most common cause of low back pain.
Pilates was created by its founder, Joseph Pilates in which his aims were to improve physical and mental health through specific Pilates exercises. Pilates improves muscle strength, balance and posture in individuals working around ones central core. Evidence shows that Pilates can improve back pain in patients with nonspecific lower back pain.
Lorna many thanks for treating me and more importantly getting me 100% fit. As you know I struggled for a good while with a hamstring problem or I thought it was. But following various consultations and treatments I was getting nowhere until you were recommended by a friend. It was quite clear from the outset that I was in good hands and was with someone who was well skilled in identifying my condition.
