Let's Dance in Bishopthorpe, was established in 1991 by principle, Sandra Smith and has been going from strength to strength ever since. Catering for boys and girls age 3 to adults, we aim for students to learn discipline, self-confidence and strength provided through dance. Most important is for all students to enjoy the freedom and joy of dance during their time with us.

Sandra Smith is a Fully Qualified Royal Academy of Dance and IDTA Teacher, with DBS Checks. Let's Dance students have the opportunity to take part in RAD ballet exams. Students are offered the opportunity to attend workshops and summer schools on a regular basis.
Services
The most beautiful and challenging of all dance styles, requiring grace, discipline and strength. At Let's Dance in York, we recommend that all students begin with this style. We have ballet classes from age 3+. Students taking ballet classes can take RAD examinations from Pre-Primary to Grade 8 and Vocational exams.
Tap dancing is a timeless, feel-good form of dance. If you love the idea of tapping out rhythms, and developing musicality, join one of our fabulous tap dancing classes today! Tap is a percussive style of dance requiring a strong musical ability and sense of rhythm as the feet become an extension of the music.
A popular style, jazz comes in many different forms from the more theatrical musical theatre styles to the funkier performance styles seen in music videos. We aim for our students to experience both styles of jazz. Let's Dance in York offers jazz dance classes from age 5 +, dancing to the latest chart music and is good for flexibility and confidence.
Contemporary dance is an abstract form of modern dance and is influenced by both classical ballet and jazz. Contemporary dance principles include exploring shapes and centring, breath, contraction and release, fall and recovery, balance and off-balance. Many of its concepts come from the ideas and innovations of 20th-century modern dance, including floor-work and turn-in of the legs.
At Let's Dance in York, we want that first day to be a relaxed and enjoyableexperience. Every child is different and so at Let's Dance we will take the time make sure your child feels comfortable and settles in their the new class. After the class, no commitment is necessary. Students will not be released from class until a parent or guardian is seen by the teacher.
