Used Virgin Experience voucher for 2 nights B&B, looked like very nice country house hotel. Didn't live up to expectations, could do with some TLC, just generally depressing, best feature lounge with huge fireplace. Remote location so we reserved a table for dinner, choice of 4 starters and 6 mains, burger, pie, salmon, chicken, pork or steak £6.5 supplement veg sides extra cost, beans or carrots, underwhelming really. Dinner second night, exactly the same menu, tried the steak it came rare as ordered but wasn't very good, lots of chewy grissle and little flavour. Couldn't fault the staff, but

Booked the Honeymoon suite for our anniversary for 2 nights.
Place was so disappointing we only stayed 1.Hotel is in need of a total refurbishment ,it's dark and not too clean looking on entry, our suite was so dismal, decor appalling, inside windows all cobwebs stained corner ceiling from water leak, a constant fan running in bathroom, toilet seat loose. A pre ordered and timed breakfast also bad, food half under cooked the other over cooked that should not be served .so glad we didn't book the over priced set dinner menu.
Would definitely not recommend a stay here.

Friars Corse is a hotel located off the A76 in Dumfries and Galloway. A long driveway leads up to the Country House and you will feel away from the world straight away.
The check in and out were quick enough and the receptionistd Nick and Alex were very helpful with all sorts of inquiries and needs I had, like trying to get the lamp to work. lol
Its true that some rooms might need an overhaul, but it's nice to rest in an old hotel that was opened in 1938.
A few paintings in some of the bedrooms and even the bathrooms would make the rooms even more cozy. The bathroom I had looked and felt
