Abbey Surveyors is an independent specialist surveying company with in-depth knowledge of the legislation concerned with asbestos surveying and energy assessments. All surveyors have qualified with BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) and BRE Global; both leaders in their respective fields for quality and assessment.

We were one of the first companies to offer and carry out domestic and commercial energy surveys when they became a legal requirement. We have completed hundreds of commercial energy surveys on a wide variety of buildings from as little as 34 sq. Asbestos was a natural extension to our service offering and we have completed many dual surveys where an energy and asbestos survey were required.
Services
Abbey Surveyors specialize in producing reports for owners and tenants to meet their legal obligations. We offer energy performance certificates for commercial and domestic properties; display energy certificates for public buildings; asbestos surveys for commercial and domestic buildings also air conditioning reports.
Asbestos was first imported into the UK in 1880. Over 5 million tons have been imported since 1940 & over 5,000 products contain asbestos in one form or another. Asbestos has many useful qualities and was used extensively in products to insulate and protect various aspects of a building.

It has been widely used in commercial, industrial and domestic buildings for a long time so unless your property was constructed after the year 2000 when it was finally banned, there is likely to be some asbestos in your building.
The law now requires any person or company putting a property on the market to have a valid energy performance certificate before marketing commences. This is required whether the property is for sale or to let. Whatever your situation, Abbey has the expertise to produce an Energy Performance Certificate for you, having completed certificates for every type and size of house and commercial building.
Every residential property that goes on the market now needs an EPC (energy performance certificate). The law for property sales differs to that for letting but both circumstances require an EPC. HIPs (home information packs) have received a lot of press comment and everyone has their own view as to whether they are useful or not.
The process of measuring, monitoring and managing energy in an operational building year on year. The requirement for a DEC (Display Energy Certificate) currently only applies to public buildings. However revisions to the current European legislation may eventually require all commercial properties that are visited by the public to also have a DEC on display.
