Initially known as Ohdokwan Tae Kwon Do, Martial Art World (MAW) began its life in1994. Every Martial Arts school has a history but not many have the heritage and success of Martial Art World. Martial Art World (MAW) was founded over two decades ago in 1994 by Master David Bonthuys. As remains the case today, its focus was high quality and authenticity, teaching two evenings per week at different venues.
Master Bonthuys was working at this time as a qualified precision aerospace engineer. He had always has an interest in martial arts and took his first lesson as a 9 year-old child in September of 1966. After many years of training and teaching for his instructor, he decided to open up his own school in a village hall with just his family for students.

I cannot recommend Martial Arts World highly enough. We moved to the area only 6 months ago and were looking for something for the whole family to do together that was both fun and rewarding. From our youngest (girl 5, boy 7) on the Ninja Ranger programme to our eldest (boy 9) doing Ninja Leaders, and Mum and Dad (40ish) doing Taekwondo and Korean Martial Arts, we all love it. Inclusive, welcoming and flexible, but also full of encouragement and positivity to help everyone achieve their personal tailored goals. What an amazing Kubiton seminar tonight run by Master B. I have learnt so much and now feeling more confident that I could protect myself or more importantly my family should I ever need to (hopefully not) I cannot recommend MAW enough and not just for their seminars but signing up to learn a Martial Art. The Ninja classes at Martial Art World have been a big part of my girls' (6&3) lives for the past 3 years, they both love it and jump for joy when it's "their martial art" day. I have loved watching the instructors get the best out of each of them, encouraging them and pushing them just enough to increase their confidence and skill.

I cannot recommend Martial Art World enough to anyone wanting to start a Martial Art. It's friendly and really welcoming to everyone of all ages, especially families! It strikes the perfect balance of learning new skills and instilling the right values for us as a family, whilst being so much fun and so highly addictive!

Having been Training at MAW since 2011 I have seen the Academy grow from strength to strength.
Master Bonthuys and his Team provide first class Tuition with the emphasis on continuous self improvement and personal development regarding fitness, state of mind, confidence building and of course the ability to perform Martial arts whether thats Tae Kwon Do or Kick Boxing.
I personally like the blend of traditional Martial arts blended with modern self defence techniques.
Worthy of a mention to, is due my work commitments during the last four years this has prevented me from Training anywhere near

My wife and I started training at Martial Art World a few years ago and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. The staff are incredibly skilled at their arts and yet their emphasis is not on anyone becoming the best martial artist out there but rather on achieving each individuals potential and goals. My 8yr old son and I have been training at Martial Art World for the last 3 years. It’s a great family run business, the staff are friendly and always willing to help.
There is always a great atmosphere and you are made to feel like one of the family, I have made a lot of great friends while training there.
I would highly recommend this club it’s the best in the county and great value for money.

I've been attending this academy for 4 years and I am completely glad to have done so. With their help, I have overcome many challenges and the atmosphere in every session makes me feel at home.
