Hummerston Ward
It was started by two long-standing friends, after months of design and product development. The aim was to batch produce a range of Victorian influenced bathroom furniture, which was at the height of fashion at that time.

A series of events during the first 2 years, not least of which being the economic down turn of the late eighties/early nineties and the departure of one of the partners, lead to the business focusing on producing bespoke bathroom and other furniture for a small number of design studios in the Surrey area.My family and business moved to Thorney in Somerset in 1994 where I have a large workshop and a home and office just down the road.

The final design was allowed to evolve during the course of the commission. Manufactured and installed by Hummerston Ward in 2015/2016. Oak joinery designed to the customers' specification as part of the refurbishment to their listed building farmhouse.
Following a flood from a broken pipe, our study was irreparably damaged. The furniture had already been removed by the time we met Glen but we had photographs. From those, and by listening carefully to our wants and need, he was able to interpret them perfectly into a plan. He ensured there was enough open shelving to display our collection of model aeroplanes as well as providing storage for all the computer accoutrements.
The clients had very specific ideas about the design and materials for furniture for their recently completed self converted barn. Testimonial: Our requirement for custom built wardrobes, cupboards and chest of drawers was presented to Glen of Hummerston Ward as a series of outline sketches at his first site visit.
