Teaching Traditional Shotokan Karate in the South West of England. Our precepts centre around the technical development of the Student and the practice of Kihon, Kata and Kumite. The development of one's Character is paramount and this is forged in the fundamentals and rigorous serious training. We have earned the Safeguarding in the Martial Arts code and are proud to show it's logo.
It proves that we are professional and have First Aid, child protection and best practice training. Our Instructors have the right credentials and are fully Insured with up to date DBS checks. Following the usual 'shenanigans' this week ended on something that provoked some thought. I'll share that here.

Shotokan karate is one of the most popular of modern styles. It is the most powerful and dynamic of the Japanese systems, and is generally considered to be the most comprehensive, both in the range of its techniques and the number and diversity of its kata. But to understand the basis of shotokan, and to see the rich pedigree of karate, you'll need to look to its origins.
Earlier this year we saw the passing of Dave Sensei. A local man he was respected and well liked. In the Dojo he trained and taught and was a very loyal Student and Instructor. He took his Shodan and Nidan Grade with us and is now training and Teaching in that great Dojo in the sky. We remember him with great fondness, we were blessed and privileged.
In Ivybridge Palladium Building Supplies are our sponsor for Squad and Dojo opportunities. We are very grateful for the further opportunities available through the sponsorship funding. Palladium have been a great support to the Karate organisation and we hope to continue with what is a very healthy relationship.
We are very privileged to be working in conjunction within our community with some great people. Our sponsor for 2019 in Kingsbridge is G&T Training services. Gavin Abbot is the proprietor and is more than happy to attach his companies name to Chi Rei Kai Karate in Kingsbridge. G&T Training Services provide Plant training and are working all over the Country.
