Services
The history of the building dates back as far as Tudor times as a corn mill controlled by the monks of Cartmel Priory. As time passed, the unique position of the mill on the banks of the fast flowing River Leven, running from Lake Windermere, enabled this building to be used for many purposes.
During it's time so far the building has been used as a paper mill, Ainsworth's cotton mill and then the Reckitts Ultramarine pigment factory before it being turned into the hotel it is today. The last manufacturing venture of the mill was the production of blue pigment bags which became a revolutionary way for laundries to bring that "whiter than white" look into their customers laundry!

Sept/October 2021 - Stayed at the Whitewater Hotel, Booked through Spa and Hotel breaks for 3 nights on our honeymoon. You can't fault the location and views. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. We were however, incredibly disappointed with executive room for which we had payed an additional premium as it was our honeymoon. The room was very tired and desperately in need of updating. The carpets were threadbare and the ceiling was cracked and filled and painted in a different colour than the ceiling. The furniture and decor in the room was also in need of repair, and updating,
