We encourage our patients to attend regularly in order to achieve or maintain good oral health. At the end of your appointment the dentist will suggest when you should have your next examination. We provide the full range of NHS treatment (except orthodontics and sedation) to all our patients and will always try to offer you an appointment as soon as possible and at a convenient time.
Services
All staff undertake regular training and education to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. Andrew graduated from Newcastle in 1988. He has worked in general practice since graduation and took over Appletree dental practice in 1999. Andrew is the clinical director and provides NHS and private dental care.
Patients with a dental emergency during normal surgery hours should telephone the practice for advice. We aim to see emergencies within 24 hours where possible. Should you have a dental emergency outside of normal practice hours please contact the practice on (01723) 365393 where a recorded message will give details of the out of hours arrangements.
Dental hygienists are specially trained to work as part of the dental team, to give care to patients. They play an important part in dental health care and are mainly concerned with preventive dental health and treating gum disease - showing you correct home care and helping to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Just as there are several causes of tooth staining and discoloration there are some easy options to try for whiter teeth. Whitening toothpastes which contain mild abrasives which scrub the teeth removing surface stains to make them whiter. Some toothpaste also contains peroxide or phosphates to help remove and prevent stain.
A dental implant is a small precision engineered screw which serves as a replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. The implant is placed in the bone of the upper or lower jaw and a specially modified surface allows a bond (osseointegration) to form with the bone. This gives the same stable foundation as a natural tooth.
