First Insurance was re-launched in 2011 with First Car offering car insurance for younger and convicted drivers. As we've grown we've developed a wide range of insurance products tailored to suit the needs of our customers. We focus on new and innovative products, striving to continually improve and build upon our current offerings.

We like speaking directly to our customers so we can really understand what they're looking for in an insurance policy. We've asked our policyholders this question and of course the majority wanted to drive down the price of their premiums. However a lot of people wanted a wider range of products such as breakdown cover, excess protection and key protection.

If 0 stars was an option that what I’d give... Appalling insurance company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Terrible customer service, on hold an hour plus every time you need to contact them, they’ve charged me nearly 300 pounds to cancel my policy, quoted nearly 1000 pounds more then the other companies for renewal... everything about this company is TERRIBLE... AVOID AVOID AVOID

Cant give them -1 or I would. No response from this company. When ever you try to call you spend 5 minutes waiting followed by speaking to the same young lady while your diverted to the correct department and then a further 1 hour on the phone (at least) with no one answering. Disgusting service that never reply and their emails as the address does not exist.

Worst of the worst. Tried several times over the weeks to email. No reply. Called the company 20-30 times for weeks and weeks. Call is put on hold and NEVER answered. They wouldn't let me cancel within 14 days. After more than a month I received a text not an email. That said my insurance is cancelled. A small amount of the cost of the policy was returned to the account and that was it. They basically waited until after the 14 days where I could have received the amount back and then told me it was cancelled. Most of the money I was charged for the policy they kept. Don't use this insurer and tell

If no stars were an option I wouldn't be giving them one. Being insured with First has been a year of misery. I should have shied away the moment they added £100 to the premium because I had remembered the date I passed my driving test 14 yrs ago wrong by one month. I did however go ahead with them. From that point the blunders started. They forgot to insure me with underwriters, they often phoned me to tell me that if I didn't provide evidence of why my driving licence had a particular expiry date (completely legal) I would be uninsured within 24hrs. I provided this evidence 3 times. They refused
