The Snail's Pace Caf and Bike hire is situated at Wenford Bridge on Bodmin Moor. For freshly cooked wholesome foods this camel trail cafe will delight all the family. A delightfully unique and quirky off grid eaterie, comfortable and light with a good selection of local fresh foods. We are in the ideal place to start a journey on the famous camel trail where the true beauty of Cornwall can be experienced from a generally traffic free environment.
Featuring over 17 miles in all from moor to sea the disused railway line follows the river camel from Wenford to Padstow in three parts. We have a great selection of bikes and equipment for all the family. This part of the trail features beautiful woodland and riverside habitat as you meander down towards the sea taking in salt marsh and estuarine vistas.

Services
Beginning with a love of ecology, permaculture, community development, and good food they have created a unique space within and about a recycled shipping container. With a lot of love and hard work they continue to try and offer more an experience than solely a cafe. Using locally sourced timber the caf's conservatory extension is light and airy, full of green growth and is a wonderful space to relax after a ride along the camel trail.
With an excellent range of cycles to explore the camel trail Wenfordbridge is the choice of many regular users due to the quiet paths beside the river on the way to Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. For bike hire camel trail Snails Pace is a great place to start your journey. This first part of the trail follows the river as it comes off the moor at Wenford Bridge near St Breward through quiet woodlands and glorious countryside.

Great location to start a ride. LOVELY long curves, no hills, easy for people as unfit as us, and beautiful forested fresh air as the fields, pheasants, roiling rivers and historic buildings roll by. Nick was super helpful setting up our bikes for us, an encyclopedia of local knowledge, and the cafe was an eco-haven at the end of our ride! Fantastic day out.

I can be a very difficult customer to please, or so I've been told but Nick and his team have been fantastic. Great experience. Friendly, informative and very professional. The bikes supplied were perfect for the ride ahead and the location/route ideal for all. My daughter and I will defo be back. Highly Recommended

We didn't use the Cafe as such but wanted to share that Nick on the Bike Hire side is a real gent. Lovely guy who really wants you to enjoy the bikes. Good selection and really well maintained. Bonus is that bikes come with bike lock and puncture repair kit, didn't need the latter thankfully! Great local business.

A superb experience from start to finish! We hired 3 bikes and the chap at the bike hire was really friendly and helpful getting us on our way. He told us about the different routes and the recommended ways to go which was great! We were a bit limited on time so only made it as far as the tea rooms, but had a lovely early lunch there and headed back.
Highly recommended!
Thanks guys.

Initially went to park up and walk down the Camel trail, but when we got there decided to hire bikes. Fantastic gentleman running the bike hire, couldn't be more helpful, both before and after we returned. Camel trail itself is outstanding with its views and wildlife. On our return the lady running the cafe was also very friendly and helpful allowing us to purchase some much needed refreshments, despite having finished for the day. Highly recommend both of these places

Love cream teas? Then this is a must visit! We had something of a cream tea tour over two weeks in Cornwall and visited all the places the guidebooks recommend... We thought we'd discovered the best cream tea (in Tintangel), but Snail's Pace cafe beats them all! We also popped back for other delicious items on their menu including the vegetarian breakfast - probably the best savoury item we are whilst in Cornwall (other than Hake and chips in Padstow). Staff were lovely too and can make changes to most dishes if required (they added some bacon to my Vege breakfast at my request). 😍 this place

What an amazing little cafe! Situated on the Camel Trail it's a perfect place to start or end your exploration of the Trail. You can hire bikes from here but we chose to walk a couple of miles before heading back.
Lovely food, reasonably priced and all handmade. They even managed to cater for food intolerances. The scones looked amazing!
