Services
In the heart of the Lake District National Park, we have 320 privately owned static caravan holiday homes. For touring and motorhome holidays we are hard to beat. We offer the highest of standards and facilities as one of the finest touring caravan and motorhome parks in the Lake District. For those wanting a unique couples getaway, our romantic hideaways provide the perfect retreat for a few days.
To gain access to Skelwith Fold's magnificent grounds before 1950, you would need to have been very well connected. Its 130 acres were in the ownership of the wealthy Marshall family who, in 1890, built a rather unusual mansion house at the highest point on the site.

Commanding breath-taking views over the fells, the house was traditional Victorian in appearance - but, apparently, was equipped with all the latest time-saving and aids-to-good-living gadgets of the period.Sadly, the mansion was destroyed in the 1950s. The family had lost its fortune, and could no longer afford the building's financial upkeep - but it was a slow death.
Take a look at various aspects of our park. From our holiday cottages, glamping accommodation options, touring pitches to our holiday home owners. The perfect escape for touring caravans, motorhomes, holiday homes and woodland hideaways. The Greenhouse at Skelwith Fold is an amazing luxury holiday cottage built up from the foundations of the former orangery of Skelwith Fold Manor which used to sit at the heart of the Skelwith Fold Estate.
The perfect escape for touring caravans, motorhomes, holiday homes and woodland hideaways. Lake District connoisseurs know that the off-peak seasons see Cumbria at its loveliest. So if you are able to take breaks in spring, early summer and winter, then here is another quite exceptional privilege.
The Skelwith Fold Advantage App is the ideal companion to your stay at Skelwith Fold. Whether you are a first time visitor, loyal returning guest, or the owner of one of our caravan holiday homes on the park. The 'Things to do' section will show you a wide range of local attractions near to Skelwith Fold in the heart of the Lake District.

I like the fact you can chose your own pitch which is nice. We found a nice pitch that suited our Van and awning. not far from water and toilets. really recommend this site to anyone.

Absolutely brilliant disabled facilities. Phone in advance for booking and finding out what's available. I was no more than 10 very small paces away from the toilet and shower exclusively for disabled only. It is kept immaculately clean and everything is so very well thought out. Well done Skelwith on your 5/5 facilities.

Beautiful location and static caravan park in handy for access to Ambleside and Hawkes Head.
But
Touring pitches are not so well thought out, long stretches of gravel, a couple of pitches have a small grassed area but the majority don’t, if you pitch near a caravan you can be squished in by the large caravan, large awning tent and large towing car.
The cost for the weekend was £20 more than we usually pay. We were expecting a real luxury for that.
We arrived for our first weekend here to be told we have to take down our windbreak, we were cooking our tea after 8 hrs work and an hour and

Stayed 2 nights in a motorhome and wished we had stayed longer!
Very well kept park deserves it's 5 star status.
Great location, we cycled to Ambleside via a national cycle route and there are other routes which take you to Coniston and Bowness.
The ancient forest surrounding the park is stunning and I even saw a red deer!

Superb facilities, nice peaceful surroundings, many trees to shelter from the sun in height of summer. The children's playground looked quality. The 3pm check-in seems a bit harsh and the narrow roads to/from the entrance are the only negative points I can think of but the site itself is great. Will return.

Love this site stayed in March just before the lockdown can't wait to go back. Shower and toilet blocks are very clean. Shop is full of everything you need. No bar on site but great little walk to to drunken duck or Ambleside. On a Friday the fish and chip van is there and is lovely.

I literally couldn't fault anything about this place. The scenary is stunning. The staff are absolutely amazing, could have an easy conversation with any of them and they were all so knowledgeable about the area.
We paid for a premium pitch which was right by the reception shop with electric and water connections. The toilet and shower block was literally a 2 miniature walk and they are super nice compared to a lot of campsites
It's really well looked after, it has a bus stop outside the park gates that can get you anywhere for an £8 all day ticket.

We turned into Skelwith Fold and it was beautiful, like entering a park full of beautiful trees. As we went further the static caravans were beautifully positioned around the entrance. The Reception area was lovely with a well stocked shop and friendly staff. it ended there however as we turned the corner to our 'Premier Pitch' with our touring caravan. Whilst it had electric hook up, water and drainage, that was the total sum of the 'Premier Pitch'. The whole area was gravel, and the pitches were very small with your neighbours car parked directly at the side of your caravan. There was not a bit
