The Parador and John looked after my family so well when we had a function after my mum's funeral for friends and family. They actually asked a small group to change days to allow us the space. Food was hot and tasty, plenty of it and a lot of kindness and care which was really appreciated. Thank you.

We had a christening party at the Parador yesterday and it was a fabulous day from start to finish. Peter and Donna were wonderful and couldn’t do enough to make the day perfect. The family all really enjoyed the food and it was great value for money. The children were made welcome by all the staff. Thank you all so much!

Comfy, traditional pub with an open fire. Reasonably priced drinks and wines and really lovely friendly staff. There's always sports playing on the numerous TV screens. A real plus is that a traditional Irish music group use the back bar in the Parador to practice on Tuesday evenings - some fabulous music can be heard there.

Very decent friendly-ish pub on the Ormeau Road.
Guinness: OK. Just OK. Though it was the third pub we'd stepped into & the only one in which more than one person was drinking. The others' looked a bit better, so it could have been lack of a decent pour due to my accent.
Not that I sound like I"m from anywhere.

The Parador Hotel is a strange, friendly place that is a locals bar to the core while seeming to be more than happy to welcome in strangers.
On one recent occasion, I arrived in the lounge bar and asked if they could change the channel on the television so I could watch something. In response to this request, the bar staff nearly tied themselves in knots trying to accommodate me. Especially given that what I wanted to watch was a women's gymnastics final on some obscure sport channel. I honestly think that they would have taken out a new sky subscription then and there if they hadn&apos

There once was a boy (don't all good stories start that way?) and he loved a girl (me. Clearly.) and a pub (that would be the Parador). Which one he loved more remains a mystery to this day...
The Parador is actually a nice enough pub, but it's not a place you'd come to if you're not from the Ormeau Road. That's not an insult, it's just one of the many locals along that road.
Because of that, it tends to have a pretty friendly atmosphere (I used to worry that they'd know I was from North Belfast and would ostracise me accordingly, but no, they were very accepting

Mum and I decided to investigate this place with a mission to reviewing it here, Mum making some assumptions based on her knowledge of the bar years ago - and she wasn't far wrong. It's a friendly local. You might be forgiven for thinking that it's a bit more upmarket, like Jude's or the Pavillion further down the road, but it isn't. It's just a straightforward friendly bar. We went on May Day, so it was buzzing with people who had been there for most of the day - and were very merry!
