Meelmore Lodge is situated in the heart of the Mourne Mountains, Northern Ireland. With views looking directly onto Slieve Meelmore and The Hare's Gap, and private access onto the Mountains, there is no better place to start your hiking trip from. Our CCTV monitored Car Park will watch over your car while you explore the Mountains.
Or if hiking isn't your thing, why not book one of our private ensuite rooms for a relaxing break away. The Hostel has a fully-fitted self-catering kitchen or if you don't fancy cooking, our on-site Bistro can provide you with breakfast and lunch. We can accommodate up to 28 people in our Hostel and specialise in group bookings with discounts available.

Services
The original farmhouse on site was being used as a self-catering holiday house, looked after by Dessie's wife June. The site had its own private access onto the mountains, which made the holiday house very popular with hillwalkers. The family then decided to build a secure carpark with toilets and showers, and a small coffee shop in the grounds surrounding the holiday house.
At Meelmore Lodge, we can offer you a secure place to park your car while you walk the Mournes. For just 4.00 a day, or 8.00 for overnight, you can park your vehicle in our off-road, CCTV-monitored car park. In response to high demand, in 2021 we build an extra hard-core carpark to the rear of the property.

From paradise to nightmare.
We arrived on Thursday and the campsite was empty which seemed extraordinary to us. On Friday, more people started to arrive, mainly family, but the atmosphere was reasonably tolerable. Saturday when we returned from the walk we were surrounded by drunken and noisy teenagers. The party lasted until 4am with screaming music and unacceptable behavior. We decided to leave the campsite at 6am under Tecno music. The staff is kindless but should not accept this kind of behaviour. Sorry I won't come back.
