Four of had two rooms in mid-October 2019 for two nights and really enjoyed the place and the staff, and of course the excellent breakfasts. This old building has a lot of character and it's nice coming through the huge old main door. We found St. Cuthbert's Way a block away and walked downhill (on a muddy lane) to the Swing Bridge and then to Dryburgh Abbey and later returned on a paved road back. We were there on a Friday and Saturday night and the modest pub downstairs did not generate much noise, nor did the beer garden out back, and it quieted down after ten pm. Great walks along River Tweed

Friendly host Tracy, clean and modern room number 2. All new oak furniture and new shower room with Mira shower. Big cubicle. Has hairdryer and tea and ,coffee facilities. No evening meals in winter but serving food up to 5pm. Takes dogs and a very hearty cooked breakfast in the morning. Only negative when taking dogs no place close by for them to have a wee. Just a wee thought Tracy perhaps a handle in shower to hold on to, cubicle big enough to take it.

This pub with rooms has the recipe for success. The room we were in was spotless with all we needed. The breakfast was fantastic as was the gin menu! The locals and staff were friendly but most of all the lady running the establishment was brilliant
Well worth a visit if you're in the area, we certainly will if we're close by.
