Parklands Equestrian was started over 30 years ago by Robert (otherwise known as Sam or Sammy) and Ruth Sampson. Their mutual love for horses has helped the company grow to what it is today. Although now a large business it still maintains its family values with many of the family members working within the company.
Parklands began by providing riding lessons, Livery and training for the local equestrian community; it became clear that the demand for equestrian facilities in the area was in high demand. In 1980 our shop was opened to supply the needs for the riding school and the expanding equestrian community in the area.

Services
We currently have available two 3.5 ton Theault horseboxs for hire. They can carry anything from Shetlands up to large hunters. Whether you have your own lorry but it's temporarily out of action, or you need to talk to us about a regular booking, or you just fancy a trip out but don't have your own transport, give us a call for a friendly, efficient service.
We stock a wide range of products which cater for all equestrian needs from Rugs, leather work, supplements, clothing and safety wear. Along with a wide range of other services such as saddle fitting, clipper blade sharpening, worming advice, rug cleaning and repairs. Clipper blade sharpening is available from 7.00 per set.
Our saddle fitter Robert Sampson, otherwise known as "Sammy" usually travels to your location with a large selection of saddles, to try for your chosen discipline. Alternatively, on-site saddle fitting is also available at Parklands with ample parking for trailer or lorry. There is also the opportunity to try riding in the saddles before purchasing with use of the facilities.
We stock a full range of feed, bedding and supplements. Not only for horses but small holders and pets, from guinea pigs, rabbits to dogs, poultry, goats and pigs. Our knowledgeable and experienced staff can guide you through the vast amount of supplements and feeds. We are proud to be the largest stockiest of Global Herbs products in the north as well as one of the largest NAF retailers.
If you are still using an old fashioned worming program based on giving drugs at regular intervals, it's time to change. These days a good worming program should be based on worm counts; with only the appropriate drugs used when needed. We should only be worming horses that have worms which sounds sensible doesn't it.

This post in relation to the shop. Purchased an unsatisfactory item which I believe is a “second” but was sold as new Staff offer little advice, were rude and dismissive this can also be said for the owner of business whom when I seek a resolution he response was and I quote “ you do what you need to do” Instead of trying resolve the problem they… simply washed their hands of issue and clearly do not care what distress they have caused me. Their customer care and complaint procedure doesn’t exist - I will NEVER shop here again nor would I recommend anyone else

Have had 4 lessons at Parklands now, having ‘transferred’ from another school due to changes in work patterns. I have to say, it’s excellent! Full marks to all the staff who made my first booking easy and always seem pleased to see me. My instructor Ellie is brilliant - knowledgeable, patient and kind. And a big shout out to ‘my’ current horse, Quinn who is honest, safe and knows his job. Looking forward to continuing my equestrian journey 😀🐎x
