Bure Valley Osteopaths
Gemma has not only got me out of pain but her knowledge is outstanding. She really explained what was going on with my back, plus gave me some invaluable advice in how to stop the pain returning. Gemma has worked wonders on my shoulder. I'd had pain for years after a nursing injury and thought I would have to "live" with it.

Treatments with Gemma have improved things no doubt, and I'm able to do so many things I couldn't do before. Bure Valley Osteopaths are a clinic based in Aylsham, Norfolk. It is run by Gemma Sethna; a registered Osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council. The clinic offers Osteopathy, Sports Massage and Pilates and Gemma's aim is to provide optimal patient health in a friendly, efficient environment.
Services
Gemma had a successful career as a professional dancer, travelling the world on Cunard and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She was always interested in Osteopathy after receiving treatment for a number of dance injuries. Returning to the UK, she decided on a career change and embarked on a 5 year Masters Degree at The London School of Osteopathy, gaining a Distinction.
Osteopaths use a variety of techniques such as manipulation, stretching and massage. This is to increase blood and nerve supply to the tissues, increase joint range of motion, relieve muscle tension, plus boost the body's self-healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.
Pilates (or Contrology, as it was originally known) was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's. As a young man, he used movement to improve his health and from this and other experiences he faced during his life, he developed a system of exercises to build awareness of breath, strengthen muscles and build mobility.
Western medical acupuncture is a derivative of Chinese acupuncture involving the insertion of fine needles. Acupuncture stimulates the nerves in skin and muscle, and can produce a variety of effects. It increases the body's release of natural painkillers - endorphin and serotonin - in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and the brain.

After seeing a chiropractor for a yr I was still getting neck and back pains so a friend mentioned seeing an osteopath instead. I’m so glad I did as after 3-4 sessions my neck was inline again and my headaches were gone! I still need to see Gemma to keep things at bay as my job is very strenuous but iv felt a major difference with monthly visits now. Gemma gives me the full amount of time that I pay for instead of 15 minutes in and out and she’s lovely. Highly recommend!

Originally visiting Gemma for treatment for a really stiff neck. After just two visits the condition improved. I was given various exercises which helped no end and I continue exercising regularly even though my neck is now better. I am on a "maintenance programme" and having help for an Arthritic knee. I find each session very therapeutic

Gemma has listened to all problems I have with neck, head and migraine issues and provided me with appropriate exercises to help prevent the issues reappearing.

Having had issues with my lower back and neck for years, it was fantastic to find an Osteopath locally that was able to provide me with first class treatment, great after care and an overall friendly approach. It was also a relief that I didn't get pushed into constant re-appointments, a much more open and honest approach. Highly recommended.
