Services
The Royal Hotel was originally built in 1845, the year after the Matheson family purchased Lewis from the Mackenzie Trustees, the successors to the Earls of Seaforth - so it's possible that the Royal was a business enterprise of the Mathesons. It has been extended a number of times during its long history.
Our deluxe harbour view room is of a large size with open views across Stornoway Harbour and Lews Castle. Rooms are fitted with quality beds and fabrics and luxury toiletries are provided in the en-suite. Other facilities include free wifi, tea and coffee facilities and tv - so relax and make yourself at home.

Beautiful stay. Staff were excellent, friendly and professional. Breakfast was delicious and guests were given a menu of various options. Rooms were comfortable and warm. My only criticism might be the lack of sockets. Our room had 2 available. And considering that everyone has many devices needing charged when travelling, 2 isn't adequate. Other than that the room was delightful with great views looking out to the harbour.
