Crawley Museum
Crawley Museum is a place where you can find out about the history of the town and the surrounding areas. We tell the history of Crawley through objects and and exhibits along with the stories associated with them. We have an active programme of events, temporary exhibitions and permanent collections which reflect various aspects of the town and the local area's development.

We have educational and entertaining aspects alongside the historical, making the space appealing to all. Our collections include objects from Crawley's prehistory and iron age beginnings, its medieval settlement, the Victorian town and the 20th Century New Town development. We also collect contemporary objects, putting them in context with society today, as well as their connections with the past.

Crawley Museum is a local history museum which tells the history of the town through objects and their stories. It has an active programme of events and temporary exhibitions which reflect various aspects of the town and the local area. It also has a learning offer for all ages. Our collections include objects from Crawley prehistory, its medieval settlement, the Victorian town and the 20th Century New Town development.
Crawley Museum works with members of the local community to ensure that the museum reflects and enhances the experiences of all. We work with community groups and organisations to create events and exhibitions, either in the Museum building or in community venues in Crawley. We have a range of reminiscence boxes which can help to promote discussion of memories.
We can also offer bespoke sessions on request. We can also design sessions for secondary schools, colleges, universities and adult learning groups. Please contact us to discuss your requirements. We provide discovery boxes for use in the classroom on the themes 'Home', 'Washday' and 'Childhood'. Discovery boxes include a range of objects, centred around their theme, all for handling by children and teachers alike.
All our public areas are accessible to visitors with pushchairs. Subject to space, pushchairs can be parked in the downstairs lobby area. We have three individual toilets, one of which has baby changing facilities. We offer a small indoor refreshments area where you can eat your own snacks, as well as a small outdoor space where you can eat when the weather is nice.
All public areas of the museum (and most staff areas) are accessible to wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. The building has an entrance ramp with a handrail, a lift to the first floor and an accessible toilet. Seats are available throughout the museum. The museum has limited onsite parking facilities, with two disabled bays.

Friendly staff but not disabled friendly. Ground floor is fine but first floor you would not be able to use wheelchair ad corridors are narrow.I would give more stars if I knew where the lifts were.

A well laid out, interesting museum with artefacts from the Victorian era through to present day. It has an ‘interactive’ chair which tells stories at the touch of a button- very good, and quite loud! There are pictures of old Crawley of places we could still recognise today. An enjoyable afternoon.

I liked the world war two display and it's easy to understand narratives. In particular i loved the penny farthing on display. Absolutely amazing. Overall there's so much information and attention to detail. Friendly, informative staff and i left knowing much more about this fabulous town. It certainly fills in the gaps between then and now. So much dedication has gone into this museum.
