Yukisan is the first Japanese restaurant in Devon, established in 2004, situated in Plymouth's regenerated Barbican area with its winding cobbled streets. Our own style dishes are specially designed and prepared by our trained chefs. On our menu you can choose from sushi, yakitori, tempura, lobster, steak, fish, and sashimi. To drink there are cocktails and sake as well as beer and wine. Try a set meal for the perfect introduction to Japanese food.
Services
Lively but gentle with notes of apricot and white peach. The spontaneity and charm of this Brut Champagne make it a natural temptation anytime, day or night. Very well-balanced and appealing, with the extremely delicate almond note that is typical of Prosecco. Lashings of red summer fruits and just a hint of vanilla make this wine very approachable.

A tasting menu in a Japanese restaurant? For £24.50? An unusual find, especially in Plymouth though the price told my girlfriend and me that we were no longer in London!
Located on Notte street, close to lots of other eateries, Yukisan won our vote with the good value of the tasting menu. The restaurant extends a long way in and the decoration was a little eclectic with a big red telephone box in the middle of the restaurant
The service was spot on and the food arrived quickly. We opened with a lovely miso soup enhanced by the luxury of scallop, the perfect antidote to the cold winter weather

What can I say?
I live in Horrabridge, just 10 or so miles outside Plymouth and have visited Yukisan a number of times now and each time I have not been disappointed.
The portions are huge, the meat tender, the sauces deep and tasty and all in all the entire experience a brilliant one.
I will be back again, as always, as the staff are friendly, the aforementioned food excellent and the choice astounding, both for me and my Vegetarian wife.

Expensive and prone to small portions, even by Japanese standards but otherwise perfect in every way. Highly recommended but think carefully about where you will park. One of the best restaurants in the city. Note how much more friendly and hospitable it is compared with dark and precious Tanners just around the corner.

Food tastes as good as it looks and has a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. As with nearly all Japanese restaurants the menu is mainly sushi and sashimi. it could be even better if other traditional dishes were offered such as shabu shabu and teryaki. Anyway, how good is warmed saki, delicious. Probably the best Asian restaurant in Plymouth and great for a romantic evening or with friends sitting on the floor!.

The best japanese restaurant I have ever been to. Pleasant atmosphere attentive staff and first rate food. BUT the portions are small and you might want to plan to eat again before or after your visit. I think Yukisan is very good. It is sometimes quiet but it deserves to survive and i hope it does.

Finally..a Japanese restaurant in Plymouth. The service is as you'd expect - fantastic, the staff are immensely helpful and attentive. The food itself is absolutely first class, prepared and presented with the traditional Japanese attention to detail. A little bit pricey but then you pay for what you get these days and if you enjoy good food in a convivial atmosphere in a modern(ish) setting then you won't be disappointed.

Yummmy! Went last night whlst late night shopping and was not disaappointed. We both had vegetarian food only, which meant that no fish stock was used - the staff were so very helpful and friendly with good suggestions.
We ended up having vegetable tempura, egg sushi, tofu sushi, cucumber and avocado sushi, udon noodles and stir fried vegetables - shared between the two of us, this was just right - very filling and soooo tasty. We also had a pot of green tea which they kept topped up.
We sat in the japanese room but O/H was a bit uncomfortable until they brought us more cushions - I, on the
