G W E Biogas
We take food waste from across the UK and convert it into green energy in the form of biogas and electricity. Over the course of a year, we create enough electricity to power 4,000 homes, making our plant an important part of the UK's renewable energy mix. We operate a 'zero waste to landfill' operation, meaning all the packaging and other materials the food waste arrives in gets disposed of in an environmentally sustainable way.

GWE Biogas was established in 2008, near Driffield in East Yorkshire, and operates one of the largest and most technically advanced Anaerobic Digester (AD) sites in the UK. How we use anaerobic digestion to destroy all of your food waste in the most environmentally friendly way by converting it into renewable biogas and biofertiliser.
Services
GWE Biogas was established in 2008 by business partners Tom Megginson and Mathew Girking and operates one of the largest and most technically advanced Anaerobic Digester (AD) sites in the UK. Situated near Driffield in East Yorkshire, the plant takes in food waste from across the UK and converts it into to renewable energy in the form of biogas and electricity.
At GWE Biogas, we have been processing food waste since 2010 and over that time have learned a lot about effective food waste destruction. All food waste processed by GWE Biogas goes towards the production of biogas and electricity which is fed into the National Grid. No waste processed at our plant goes to landfill, which helps our customers fulfil their environmental obligations.
As well as producing biogas, Anaerobic Digestion also produces a nutrient-rich biofertiliser. The fertiliser is a cost effective and renewable alternative to manufactured fertilisers. Not only does it save farmers significant amounts on their input costs, it has also been seen to increase crop yields, due to increased organic matter and microbial activity with in the soil.
The address for our plant and offices is GWE Biogas Limited, Sandhill, Kirkburn, Driffield, East Yorkshire, YO25 9DR. If you get stuck or lost, call us on 01377 229425 and we'll do our best to help. Lorries must not travel between the A166 and A614 through Garton-on-the-Wolds at any time. All HGVs must access and exit the facility via the A614.
