I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001, after training with KPMG, one of the big 5 firms at that time. After spending some years in industry as a financial manager looking after a 40m portfolio in a large utilities company I returned to general practice where I acted for 8 years as the office manager of a local Lancaster firm of Chartered Accountants, prior to establishing my own firm based in Caton near Lancaster.

Transparent fees & charges at competitive rates or fixed fees. We will quote in advance of work being undertaken to give you certainty over the cost of work. Work can be undertaken on an hourly basis if you prefer. We want you to feel comfortable to pick up the phone to us whenever you need, for whatever you want and know you'll get good sound understandable advice.
Hot and Cold file audit reviews undertaken either remotely from our offices via couriered files, or on site at your office. Visits to your office include face to face feedback given on the day, and both remote reviews and on site reviews include a full written report.
The report gives detailed comments on the compliance of your files with accounting and auditing standards and suggestions as to how your working papers/ methods may be improved to increase the efficiency of your audits with the aim of improving your profitability and compliance.We base our work on the ICAEW guidance and include a copy of the completed checklist with our report.

Since the company started back in 2010 we have used 3 different accounts and 2 bookkeepers, we were starting to lose hope that there was an accountant out there capable of understanding our business well enough. Having used Sutcliffe Accountants Ltd for around 6 months we have no plans to ever cease using their services.

Having discovered accounting discrepancies that dated back some years we were facing significant fines and late payment, penalties from HMRC. Frankly our accounts were a mess and beyond our ability to sort them out.
We are self-employed. We had used larger accountancy practices in the past but, over the years there had been mergers and changes in employees, resulting in a lack of personal service. I cannot recommend sutcliffe accounts ltd enough. Emma help and professionalism is given at all times, and no question is too small. Emma encourages clients to ask questions on how best to manage their company’s finances where others in my experience don't even return calls half the time.
