Services
These are one piece frames with moulded corners, generally produced in a selection of gilt finishes, but can be also supplied in base coat for custom painting in any colour. We supply English swept picture frames, which are hand made to order. Every frame is individually prepared for each picture and should not be confused with ready-made swept frames manufactured in the Far East.

Regency style giltwood overmantle mirror, surmounted by urns and an eagle, above an acanthus frieze.
Devonshire Fine Art have been restoring antique picture frames for over thirty years. Our largest project was a gilt swept frame on a Thomas Gainsborough landscape painting measuring approximately 5' x 7'. Missing details and decoration on plaster and gesso antique frames can be replaced, gilt varnish retouched or replaced and broken joints re-fixed.
Due to the retirement of our oil panting restorer, we are unable to offer this service at present. An unframed male portrait in the style of Reubens. Clean age related dirt (open fire, tobacco), stabilise and touch in loose and flaking paint, repair hole center top, re-varnish and re-stretch. Framed in an English swept frame.
We provide a comprehensive restoration and cleaning service for watercolours, maps and prints. Missing areas, holes and tears can be repaired. Badly stained engraving, discoloured by old backboard which also had a split allowing an 'air burn' and some worm holes. Cleaned, filled and touched in wormholes.

A lovely shop in the lovely small friendly town of Modbury. David and Karen stock the best range of antique prints in Devon and Cornwall - all of them visible online - but I visited to have two pictures framed just before Christmas. A very short timetable, but they text me the next day to say they were ready. Excellent framing, great customer service and reasonable price
