Situated 1.5 miles east of Freshwater Bay on A3055 (military Road) and boasting stunning natural views to the chalk down land valley and Compton Bay, Compton Farm is the ideal location for a family holiday or short break. The farm dates back to 1086 and has been farmed by the present family for many years.
Sheltered in a down land valley on National Trust land (which has Sites of Special Scientific Interest status), guests can take a variety of walks over the Downs to enjoy stunning views, and the wonderful wildflowers such as the pyramid orchid. Only a quarter of a mile away is Compton Bay the last untouched sandy beach of the Island; safe for children and swimming, and facing south it catches all of the sun.

A pleasure when its quiet but family camping it's not when large groups party till late.
Toilet block badly needs an upgrade. Some call it basic or rustic. It simply can't match the demand placed on it at weekends - 3 massive family tents of 15+ people where in competition to see who could be loudest. Which was a shame because everything else about the site is great.

Compton Farm was the best campsite we've stayed in! You camp on a field along a hedge with the camping 'bays' marked out by grass borders, making it clear where you should go. You can park your car right next to the tent, which is super convenient. There are also picnic benches in most bays, which was a lovely touch. The hedge is long, so we had plenty of space between us and the neighbouring campers, which was important for us. It is also situated in a bit of a valley, between 2 hills, so you are well covered from any wind. The field faces a flower meadow with plenty of birds and butterflies.

This campsite is the best you can find on Isle of Wight!
The farm is in the South the best part of the island from my opinion.
You can see the cliff from the farm and the view is really breathtaking.
You have lots of space for your vehicle, good services like toilet, BBQ, tables, etc and lovely owners. Definitely recommend it!

Everything was as perfect as it seemed online. Anna is the most thoughtful, gracious host. She provided us with all the information we needed and showed us around. The Campervan/Motorhome is just perfect! Kitchen is compact and contains everything one needs. The beds in both bedrooms are comfortable, bathroom and living room are excellent. Location is incredible very close to Compton Chine, Freshwater, and the Needles. We had a great stay!

Compton Farm is a great place to camp. The five stars are mainly because of the impeccable service from Anna and family. The farmhouse kitchen is the reception and it seems to always have a friendly face to offer advice on hiring surfboards or call a taxi.
We were cycle touring from Bristol and when we got there, Anna was so impressed she offered us use of a camp table and chairs (a real treat after three days sat on the floor). When I went to collect them, she’d even stick a can of Thatcher’s cider in each seat!
The facilities are a little tired, but well kept and surrounded by Anna’s

This is a superb little campsite with brilliant friendly helpful owners. We stayed May 2019 and the only drawback was the weather. We almost had the place to ourselves with easy access to superb coastal walks. Anna the owner even lent us an ordnance survey map for the week. Showers/toilets are small but clean. It didn't bother us but the place is somewhat remote with no pub/ shop within easy walking distance.......that makes the peace and quiet even better!!
Highly recommended.

Great campsite. We would definitely recommend it. Anna and Steve were very friendy invited you to their farm You are free to roam the meadows
star gaze and pick wild mushrooms which made delicious omelettes for
breakfast. Despite having a bit of a breeze first 2 days we had a lovely calm and hot 2 week camp for 10 out of the 12 days. Beautiful beaches close by and a quiet place to rest your weary head at the end of day listening to the waves as you drift off to sleep after exploring the island. We will definitely return. If you want a relaxing campsite and space I thoroughly recommend it.

What a great little campsite. Nicely positioned with fantastic views. Very friendly owners. Nice touch having picnic benches at each pitch. Clean toilets facilities. Nice to be able to stay on a farm and help support an independent site. Would definitely recommend to others and would happily return.
