Pioneer Expeditions is a leading adventure company specialising in unique activity and wildlife holidays. In particular we specialise in tailor made, small group and luxury holidays to key destinations that we know really well.
So organising holidays in Madagascar or a wildlife trip to see orangutans in Borneo are probably what we are best known for but we also provide holidays in Costa Rica and a number of other select holiday destinations such as multi-activity trips in the Galapagos islands, experiencing Mongolia's traditions in an adventure warrior-style holiday, to trekking in Bhutan.

Just back from our first trip organised through Pioneer Expeditions. We did the pacific Lagoons and the Aquarium of the World trip from La Paz in Mexico and had a great time.
Our guide Mario was excellent. We swam with whale sharks and sea lions, as well as going out in a boat to see grey whales. The whale shark was the highlight of the trip for… us both.
We then kayaked each day along the Baja peninsular, stopping to camp each night on sand dunes.
We helped to prepare the food, but were amazed at the overall quality and variety of the meals Mario cooked for us each day at our camp sites

Recently returned from an amazing tailor-made holiday in Costa Rica, planned and organised by Laurenne and the team! Stayed in an amazing selection of eco-lodges and saw an incredible range of local Flora & Fauna in as much of an unobtrusive way as possible. Spiders, sloths, frogs (including the incredible glass frog), nesting turtles, snakes, whales, dolphins. Plus a smattering of snorkelling and ziplining combined with volcanic hotsprings....many memories made that will last a lifetime. Thank you!

Just been on a 2 week adventure in Madagascar with Pioneer. The trip was very well organised and we enjoyed visiting 2 national parks and snorkelling around Nosy Be in the North. Really loved seeing the… wildlife, hotels were great and the 4 day Dhow sailing trip was amazing. The guides were all very knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend Pioneer to anyone visiting Madagascar

Excellent trip with great organisation from the team at Pioneer.
I travelled out to Indonesia alone and although a seasoned traveller the detail put into the organisation by Pioneer made this really smooth and… a pleasure.
The kayaking trip itself was brilliant. Excellent balance between kayaking and snorkelling, swimming, trekking etc.
Highlights -
Flying foxes at dusk.....thousands of them
Sleeping on the deck of the support boat out at sea (no need for mossie nets, bedding or anything - just me, a couple of beanbags and the amazing stars. Milky Way like you've never seen it!

We’ve just returned from a trip to Elephant World in Thailand and can’t even put into words what a fantastic experience we had. Lou and all the team at Pioneer Expeditions arranged a perfect family holiday that we’ll never forget. Our tour was tailored just the way we wanted it with no fuss. The local guides were magnificent and really made us feel welcome. We will definitely be booking our next holiday with Pioneer Expeditions!
