Services
Since acupuncture promotes the body's natural healing ability, many conditions can be corrected or improved. Also, it is being recognised that acupuncture is a comprehensive system of preventive health care and health maintenance. The effectiveness of acupuncture extends far beyond the conception that it is only useful for chronic pain management or as an analgesic.
Acupuncture is a complementary therapy that involves inserting needles into your skin at defined points to try to help treat health problems and conditions. A complementary therapy may be used together with medical treatment that you might be receiving. Acupuncture improves the body's functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites-commonly referred to as acupuncture points, or acupoints.
If you are receiving treatment from your doctor then it makes sense to tell him or her about your plans to have acupuncture. The acupuncture treatment may enable you to reduce or even stop taking some forms of medication, but your doctor should be consulted regarding any change of prescription. You should always tell your acupuncturist about any medication you are taking as this may affect your response to the acupuncture treatment.
