At my practice based on the Lisburn Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, I believe that health is not just the absence of disease - but a positive feeling of well-being and balance: physically, mentally, emotionally - the three are not separate.

I work with you to help you to get your body back into that balance and therefore health, by treating not only the symptoms or pains that you experience, but working on the root cause of why and how they arose. Not merely masking symptoms, but working towards a goal of long term recovery and health.

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years, and its effects are increasingly being studied and confirmed in the West. Acupuncture uses very fine needles, a fraction of the size of needles that you may have seen before, in specific points on the body to restore and maintain balance. You may feel nothing at all as they are inserted, or a very quick "sting".
Tuina (pronounced "twee-na") is not well known in the UK and Ireland, but has been in existence for about 2,500 years, and is practiced in all major hospitals in China. Tuina translates as "push - grasp" and is more than just a standard traditional massage. It works by increasing the energy flow in the body thus bringing your body's systems back into balance.
In recent years it has been reported that many famous faces have regular facial acupuncture to slow down the effects of time. But this treatment is not just another new fad, in fact as early as the Song Dynasty (960-1270AD), facial acupuncture was used on the empress and the emperor's concubines.

Facial acupuncture can be a very effective treatment to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, helping you to feel and look rejuvenated without the need for invasive surgical procedures. The treatment may stimulate the laying down new collagen fibres, and the needles relax tense muscles eliminating puffiness, sagging and the common signs of ageing.
We all seem to be under more stress today than ever before. How stress is defined will vary, but can be described as "the feeling of being under too much mental, physical or emotional pressure." Pressure turns into stress when you feel unable to cope. People have different ways of reacting to stress, so a situation that feels stressful to one person may be motivating to someone else.
Sadly, difficulty in conceiving is becoming increasingly common, affecting over 3.5 million people in the UK and Ireland. One definition often used is when a couple cannot conceive despite having regular unprotected sex for two years. There are many potential causes of infertility, and can affect either the man or the woman.
