You have arrived at CRISIS, a counselling service based in Erskine, near Glasgow, and works with people to achieve better mental health across 23 of Scotland's 32 Local Authority areas. Services
CRISIS was established in 1996 by jean Cumming as a Registered Charity in response to the need for support, guidance and counselling she saw when employed within the NHS. She realised there was no early intervention services available only acute services with people struggling, often with limited chance of robust recovery.
We offer compassionate support and assistance for adults dealing with a range of issues - relationship breakdown; work-related stress; bereavement; domestic violence; survivors of sexual abuse; rape; addictions or concerns about indulging in certain behaviour that is not healthy e.g. Please support Margaret Maxwell, who's running to raise money for us for the 9th year in a row!
CRISIS provides a range of services to assist organisations fulfil their duty of care to their employees. Employees and Employers face increasing pressures to be both effective at work and to maintain a healthy work/life balance. Some are dealing with care responsibilities of elderly relatives whilst still having children and young adults at home.
We are a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status. We hold the Social Enterprise Mark and are proud of being a Social Enterprise where any profits are retained within the Organisation for the benefit of our clients rather than paid to any shareholder. The Social Enterprise Mark is the only internationally available social enterprise accreditation, enabling credible social enterprises to prove that they are making a difference.
As a Social Enterprise, we chose not to rely on grants from various funding bodies for our regular income. This continues to allow us to develop our business according to the needs of our clients whilst remaining within the founder's ethos.
We have Service Level Agreements and Contracts with Local Authorities to deliver services in partnership with Health and Social Care in two areas: Private Business of any size; other Social Enterprise, such as Housing Associations and a number of Voluntary Organisations and Charities.We have previously received funding for specific projects.
